Crusade Fine Arts presents McCANDLESS & COMPANY: CRIME SCENES

It's Moonlighting meets Sin City as Shi writer J.C. Vaughn unleashes his tales of a private detective agency run by two best friends who spring from distinctly different walks of life in McCandless & Company: Crime Scenes, a new trade paperback from Crusade Fine Arts.

"I'm really excited to have McCandless & Company at Crusade," said publisher William Tucci. "I've loved these characters since J.C. first told me about them a few years ago. This trade features an impressive variety of artists, each telling a chapter in the overall story. Gene Gonzales' work in particular is stunning, but the whole package will be very striking."

Carey McCandless comes from a background of wealth and privilege. She is boldly self-confident and very well connected. Jessica Williams was born into the lower rungs of the economic ladder. Everything she has she earned herself. Her sense of justice extends well beyond the written law and demands she challenge the status quo. McCandless & Company is the story of their partnership in a detective agency they start after quickly tiring of being token females at a major security firm. Their assistant, the one "telling" these stories, is David Bradshaw, a young aspiring writer who finds himself working for the duo.

This collection includes five tales including four new stories and a remastered version of the previously published McCandless & Company: Dead Razor. It features the work of Stargate SG-1 cover artist Matt Busch, Tales of the Cherokee creator Gene Gonzales, Insight Studios' Harry Roland, and new talents Ben Dale (SFPD) and Chris Chua.

Artists Michael Avon Oeming (Powers, Hammer of the Gods), John K. Snyder III (Doctor Mid-Nite, Green Lantern: Brightest Day/Blackest Night), and newcomer Robert Hack, among others, have supplied pin-ups. The cover is by superstars Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti.

"I've had a lot of fun working on Shi and various other projects with Billy over the years, and it just made sense for McCandless & Company: Crime Scenes to find a home at Crusade," Vaughn said. "I'm very happy that he decided to publish the trade paperback."

McCandless & Company: Crime Scenes will be 144 pages, black and white, and retail for $14.99. It will be listed in the March 2003 Previews from Diamond Comic Distributors and will go on sale in May.
