- ON THIS DAY -

On Feb. 26, 1993, a bomb exploded in the garage of New York's World Trade  Center, killing six people and injuring more than 1,000 others.

whatever you think about our President's war on terror, this war started 11 years ago and not by anything we did.

Let us war to the end with the terror merchants as they will war to the end.  Anything less on our part will lead to disaster at home if not also abroad.

Good Show.

I remember that day.  It was snowing and I was pencilling the early pages of Shi Way of the Warrior #1.   My friend Elise was acutally downstairs in the mall when it happened -- smoke everywhere but nobody panicked.

Eerie thing was that I had dinner with my wife (then-girlfriend) Deborah in Jersey City that night and one of the towers (I'm sorry to say I don't recall which) was completely dark while the other was business as usual.

If only we all knew.

I was coming into class in Grad School and everyone was
casual and laughing and I told them a bomb went off in
the towers and no one believed me.

I had the prescience of the time to say if this isn't a lone
kook it is an event that is going to mean much more down
the line.    Now we have to finish job what our (blowjob) at the time President did not/would not complete.

I am not a Republican or Democrat but let me say if Gore had won in Florida and 9/11 happened we'd have seen US forces launch a couple hundred cruise missiles into Afghanistan and declare victory whilst doing nothing in reality, just like Clinton.

Furthermore, and let me totally candid, I am a Christian and I belive leaders are called to righteous people in trying times.  GW Bush is a moral man and the nation was about to be tested.  We needed him to finish this war.  Nothing less will do or you will be seeing more events like 2/26/93 and 9/11/01.

not voting Kerry

Alex, nicely said.

My best friend -- since 7th grade, I like to point out -- had been working at client's at the WTC several days before. I had even been there to visit.

I remember when I heard about it, I immediately thought first of my friend, and then of what a hard time that kind of building poses/posed for rescuers.

Years later, my friend commuted every day through that PATH station. He was, thank God, down the street and at work early when 9/11 happened.

Sad to say, I had lost the 1st real love of my life around Feb. 26th 93. I believe I was still hyperventilating. Looking back, I feel slightly bad for not caring more about the tragedy then, but I was a little too self-absorbed @ 23.

It turns my stomach to see these politicians saying we need to pull out of Iraq. We need to finish the job we started. Both for our safety & our credibility.

I was dumbfounded when I found out Gore was to be the Dems candidate... obviously somebody inhaled that day.

Speaking as a non-American, I would like to add the opinion of someone from the other side of the world and with ties to the Arab community (no one shoot me, please .. not Muslim, just have relatives who are).

I will always remember every detail of what I was doing that day in Sept.  Alone in yet another hotel room, working on a deadline on my laptop as usual, I glanced up to see the ticker tape on telly.  Somehow I thought it was another ad for yet another action movie.  When I saw the 1st plane crashing, I had to go make myself a cup of tea.  The sense of surreality lasted till I scalded my hand in shock as I watched the 2nd plane.

I lost an ex colleague who was on the Boston flight and I remember I was in the office when I saw his name on the list in the papers & just bawled.  Thankfully my ex boyfriend was not on that flight that day although I had some harrowing hours there before I found out he was safe.

The burn has healed but the memory and horror will last forever.  I cannot even begin to understand the sorrow of those left behind but the heart breaks just even trying.  Right, time to go get a tissue & a cup of tea ...

I'm there w/ ya Sury.

I definately remember 9-11. It was my week off. It was supposed to be a happy week because my birthday is on 9-9. I was @ home watching CNN, CSNBC & anything else I could find for 3 days. Stopped to cook & do dishes (I do the cooking, dishes & laundry the week I'm home so my Lickie can have a break) otherwise I was trying to soak in any info I could about it. I was obsessed.

Great posting here.  And please Sury, (I hope) no one on these boards feels that way towards Muslims.  Of course, many of us feel that Terrorists should be brought to justice or Justice to Terrorists.

And Delvie, I personally think we should ALL be obessed with 9/11 and as Alex stated when started this post that we should all "never forget."

Say Sury, you're from South Africa right?  Know of anyone conducting Safari's or Kudu hunts?

Thank you.  That kind of obsession was unhealthy, though. I was barraging myself w/ scenes of hate & the pain of others. I am now obsessing about the future. My Future, Lickie's Future, Shi's Future, America's Future & the World's Future.

& I have to say, it looks bright (aside from a few hurdles that are likely to come along)
