What's your favorite single issue of Shi?

It can be from any of the series, mini-series or one-shots. It can be Tomoe, manga Shi, whatever. Just... what's your favorite, and why?

My Favourite edition, hard to say.

I will say 2 favourites, for differents reasons :

1 - Issue #1 Fan Appreciciation Edition Virgin Cover

Why?
Because it's the very first comic book I bought, and get hooked from here.

2- Issue #5 Billy Cover

Why?
Because of the art, the color, the emotion it brings. And maybe because I've hunted that comics for 2 whole year before giving boxes of them when Billy came to Angoulême in 1998  ;)  In fact I think this one is one of the very best comic book ever produced.

I think #5 might be my choice, too. I have to think about it. I know the original cover to the first issue was cool, too. I saw it from two rows away at my then-local comic shop, sitting there on the top row, demanding I check it out.

8)  Yeah, I liked #12, too, but you're right... there really is something about #5.

What about from the other series and one-shots?

I really like WOTW#12, for pretty much the same reason as Tora. The battle between Arashi & his guards & then his surprising act of honor. I did like the passing cerimony in the garden for all the fallen warriors (I can't recall which issue & I am in NC right now so I can't check). I did like Tuuci's covers to Series #9 & #10 a lot. My fav covers are the WOTW Deutsche Ed. #5, #12 & Deutsche TPB 13-14; YOTD 2B, Heaven & Earth 2, 3, 4A&B connecting covers, Zero. If I had to choose one cover that was my fav Shi Cover, it would be WOTW Deutsche #12.

Some of my favorite art was in Shi vs. Tomoe.

I also loved the idea of having the Tomoe mini-series intersect with the WOTW series the way it did.

Ditto. Have you seen the cover of Deutsche #12?

It sums up the culmination of the Shi/Tomoe conflict

I guess I have to agree with most of you.  Shi:  The Way of the Warrior #5 is my all time favorite issue too.  I guess it stems from my mind set while producing it.  There was something so magical about those early months of 1995, and the many negative comments that were going around comic pundit circles at the time totally fueled my drive to produce a self published book that would truly raise the bar.  Even though each issue had been a major improvement upon its predecessor, many thought the books were a fluke and had lumped it in with the growing T&A Solof-type comics that were infesting the market place.  But as the pages kept coming, our small part-time crew of Gary Cohn, Peter Gutierrez, Nelson Acsencio, Steve Chin, my mom and myself realized that this issue was just going to blow people away.  When it hit, it was just incredible and things were really never the same after that.  We received so much praise on how the book had not only raised the bar on indy books, but really gave the main-streamers a run for their money.  Whoo hoo.  I can really go on and on about that book and that winter and if anyone has any questions about that specific time, please ask!  It'll give me a reason to reflect and be inspired.

My favorite series has to be Senryaku, and I could go on forever about that one too.

The book I had the most fun producing was definitely "Shi/Cyblade" working with so many creators and listening to Pink Floyd's "The Wall' over and over again.

As for favorite cover?  Hmmm, I do love the cover to number five and feel that J.C. Jones’ "Shi - B/W/R #2" is the best image of Shi ever created.  But I feel that the later half of 2003 will bring on a whole new Shi renaissance and many more memorable issues.

The J.G. Jones stuff was awesome. I think that he's one of the really exciting artists in the business at the moment.

I haven't posted in a long while, but I had to add my 2 cents.
My favorite issues are last years tour books. Billy did three different covers for me. They cost me 5 bucks a piece, but they really are priceless to me. Sitting with Billy at the San Diego Con and watching him draw the covers(done on three different days) and chit chatting with him was awesome. He is a really cool guy and really HUMAN. He let a couple potty words out of his mouth and apologized each time. Sorry Billy. I am going to see him again this year and have a few more drawn up, just so I can hang them up everywhere. ;D

WOTW #1 is my favorite, but I do love the Deutsch cover to #12.  The first issue had me hooked, with the splash pages, the clean art, and the unforgettable last page...

I enjoyed the whole Way of the Warrior story especially #6 which had that unforgettable scene in the Natural History Museum. I also liked the SHi/ DareDevil X-over.

But my #1 favorite is SHI ZERO great unique art style, & but the part that got me into it most was where Ana attends a show at the college I attend (Billy did as well) FIT. I thought it was just too awesome!!!
