I know Mr. Tucci was in Japan at one time.  Did you ever see those NETSUKE figures?  Originally made in Ivory they are now made in a variety of other materials (inexpensive material like ground up fish bone and box wood ).  SHI figures in NETSUKE form would be really neat, very unique and unusual for American collectors.  They had entire scenes made up of NETSUKE in Jpapan (but I think the mass produced stuff comes from China)  I see allot of NETSUKE being sold on eBay, so there is a market for it.  Certainly different and much nicer than the plastic figures many characters are done in usually.  I don't know what the cost would be here, but I bought the tourist type NETSUKE in Japan 5 years ago for around $20.00 dollars for small figures with Japanese signatures.

Delvie prepares to dish out more SHI-BUCKS[/color]
;D

That would be cool.
You know what else would rock?
You know those little cork carved scenes usually contained in little glass boxes w/ black laquered frames? Usually of a mountainside scene, some cranes & a bridge? A Shi scene would be cool. EXPENSIVE! But cool. Two scenes come to mind. Shi fighting Arashi, or Ana sending the little paper boat adrift in the pond (to celebrate the dead).

Cool idea, you don't get much more traditional than netsuke.

;)

How do you get those things made?  I'm sure they're very expensive.

i came across a netsuke artist page . she is described as one of only a handful of netsuke artists in the world so i would assume that production of the netsukes would be expensive. her page is

www.designingfutures.com.au/DF/Members/wraight_susan/about/member_detail_view

however, if they can be made it would be a great addition to the crusade line of collectibles .
