The guy "in the shirt" is moi. The guy "on the shirt" is someone that I figured Frankster would know about. (The shirt is a rare 1/100 shirt.) I forgot I had the shirt.

The guy on the shirt is Sting and not the former frontman of the police. One of the top wrestlers from Ted Turner's Dubya-C-Dubya (wCw) he went from this (ripping off the Ulitmate Warrior then he became a success when he ripped off James O'Barr's character Cool Shirt Delvie but I HATE WCW!!!! I am always a WWF fan. WCW took Hulk Hogan away from me for 9 years.

Last I heard was Sting was in that TNA-NWA wrestling fed. All I know is Sting was at that autogrpahs signings at Caroline's where I met the Ultimate Warrior & Million Dollar Man back in late october but i had no interest in meeting the stinger.

Hey Delvie, Thanks for filling me in on a little Shi-land history. Jeez, you look like you could kick the crap out of William Wallace(you know "Braveheart"). It's cool to see pictures of you guys so when we meet at shows, I'll have a face to put to the screen name.
So you guys are into the rasslin', are you? Well in my previous life as an illustrator, I did about 125 toy package illustrations for a little outfit known as the WWF(now known as the WWE). I did portrait work and action shots of every wrestler from Chyna through the Undertaker for a toy company called JusToys(which unfortunately after 9-11 went bankrupt). I just remembered that somebody had wanted to see the finished Conan painting, so when I can, if you guys are interested, I'll send over to Delvie(if that's still O.K. with you Delvie) some of your favorite wrestlers. I received about 85% of my original art back and would have to dig through to see who I've got. But let me know and we'll see what we can do...

Jeez, you look like you could kick the crap out of William Wallace(you know "Braveheart"). Yeah, Delvie's a "BIG MO-FO". I would definately not want to piss him off. ;D. I'm 6'4.5", 215lbs, but I would definately make sure I'm on his good side. p.s. Sparky, that was me who wanted to see the Conan pic. So send it to Delvie and he'll post it or "By CROM" he'll get whats coming to him. Just a joke Big Fella...

In 1985, Steve & Jim were bodybuilders together in California. They were recruited into a group known as POWER TEAM 2000 which also were made up by Mark Miller, and Garland Donoho.
The team decided to move to Tennessee for employment as wrestling entertainers for Lawler/Jarrett Promotions changing their name to POWER TEAM USA. Shortly after they changed their name to POWER TEAM USA, the group dispanded in 1986. Steve & Jim decided to continue wrestling as a tag team known as the Blade Runners in the UWF.
In this team, Jim wrestled under the name "ROCK" & Steve wrestled under the name "FLASH." Mid 1986 Steve changes his name to Basher. Shortly before the BLADERUNNERS break up Steve changes his name, yet again, to STING. Jim leaves UWF because of problems w/ fellow employee Eddie Gilbert & contractual disputes. You'll notice that while Steve & Jim are still together, the face paint also includes the black lipstick/paint w/ lines protruding from the sides. This may re-emerge later in STING's career. Then the lines disappear. Finally, after Jim is out of the picture, the lipstick is gone & just the facepaint is worn.

After 4 month break from the business, Jim Re-emerges as THE DINGO WARRIOR in WCCW in 1987.
July 1987 UWF negotiates w/ NWA & STING becomes their new headliner. July 1987 Jim joins WWF & continues to wrestle as THE DINGO WARRIOR until changing his name in Sept 1987 to THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR. In the 90s Steve made the shift from NWA to WCW & stayed there for the remainder of his active career.
Throughout Steve's career, he is constantly changing his face paint's shape & colors on a weekly basis until the odd Crow phase set in.

Then came the end of his blonde days when a plot twist made him enemies w/ Ric Flair (again) so he let it grow back in to distance himself from Ric & the 4Horseman.

From there, a gimmick where the NWO had created a STING "CLONE" to decieve the fans & partners twist plunged Steve back into his "CROW ERA" w/ a gradual transition @ 1st.

Then into a more blatant mime/crow appearance

From there, he decided to do it up more, but the lines almost always changed

Then he entered his bloodred phase

Throughout Jim & Steve's carreer, they remain friends until personal problems between the 2 arise in the mid 90s. No accusations ever arise as to anybody stealing anybody's idea. If anything, they both stole the face paint idea from THE ROAD WARRIORS who were wearing their face paint as early as 1984.

Steve isn't doing much these days. Wrestling occasionally. Being a family man 1st. He sort of found religion & walked away from wrestling. He is listed as semi-retired wrestling only occasionally for NWA. The WWE is trying to get him to sign just as they did when they were the WWF, but he's avoiding it based on moral reasons. In January THE ROCK & McMAHON wanted him to be THE ROCK's opponent in the next Wrestlemania. But, THE ROCK & McMAHON are having contractual problems themselves, right now.

I received about 85% of my original art back and would have to dig through to see who I've got. But let me know and we'll see what we can do... That would be cool. Sadly, there are more pictures of me here (& everybody else, but sadly me): http://www.williamtucci.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Fans;action=display;num=1081469086;start=15But, truly, the REALLY scary ones are here: http://www.williamtucci.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Shi;action=display;num=1092509406;start=45#57I'm not sure I qualify as a "FAN." I guess I might. I am, however, fans of Jim & Steve. When I was in high school & College, wrestling (not wrasslin) was my sport. But I knew that my only options for wrestling as a career beyond college, was Olympics or Entertainment. Most olympic wrestlers are short, so they have the advantge of lots of meat for their weight. I, on the otherhand, am 6'2". Although short for an entertainer, it still seemed the logical choice. Back in the 80s, Steve looked identical to my oldest brother (except the blonde hair, Tony had a high&tight). So, as a result of that, he & Jim were my fav entertainers. This was further cemented later when Steve instructed @ a local indy workshop/school type thing that I was involved in. Along comes a life altering event & the end of that dream emerged. I did, however, keep track of things w/ Steve. Most of the BS in the business & on tv didn't interest me, so to avoid spending hours watching things I wasn't interested in, I video taped for close to 10 yrs, every WCW show that aired while I was out of town or off doing something else. When I got home, I would fast forward through everything to see what he was doing. I did the same w/ Jim's matches, although I never really knew Jim. I sort of became a fan of his by proxy. Stuff got stolen, nothing left from those years. Lost contact w/ Steve (although, it was minimal anyway). Steve found god during a rough period in his life & now he is no longer the person I once knew & idolized. I never liked the dark personas that his characters went into in his later career. To me, Steve was always the flashy Sting that you never knew what the hell he was going to wear or what his paint would look like next. I kept waiting for him to snap out of it & go back to flashy. I know most fans missed those days. I would sit & gab w/ Paul Wight & a few otehrs in the bars when they come back to Philly. But those days ended w/ my previous girlfirend almost 4 yrs ago. Anyway, I don't really know much about that world anymore, but I know more than some, I suppose. My DAD is always telling me what plotlines are going on & what twists are happening. He says he's not a fanboy & he only knows because he is always @ the fire station & that's all that's on up @ the station. That & UFC. Yeah, right dad! I would like to hang w/ Frankster one of these days & gab about things in the old days. Perhaps catch a match. :)

Hey Delvie, Wow, what can I say? I am truly impressed with your knowledge of wrestling. I called it "'rasslin" because that's how my Grandfather used to pronounce it. Your dad sounds just like my dad. In the early '70's he was so hooked on wrestling that we even watched it on some of the local spanish stations. We didn't understand a thing the announcers were saying but it didn't matter, we knew who the good guys were and who the bad guys were. When "Lucha Libre"(I'm guessing that means "wrestling" in Spanish)was on, we were watching. Guys like Pedro Morales and Neil Mascarus("the man of a thousand moves") were some of the wrestlers who I think eventually, mainstreamed. I remember Sting and Ultimate Warrior, but I never had the opportunity to paint either of them. I did actually paint Paul Wight as the Big Show for JusToys right before they folded. It's interesting to me how Wrestling and comic books kind of go hand-in-hand. It must be the plotlines and action and of course the wrestlers both male and female who at times appear to be very much like superheroes. Thanks for sharing all those great photos of Steve and Jim. I also think it's very cool that you almost wrestled at a professional level. I am sorry that it didn't work out for you. Thanks also for the addresses for the photo galleries. I'll be looking at those shortly. I really am happy to be involved with this forum, to be a part of the Shi-family. Billy always told me that he had the best fans. I'm sorry that I didn't get involved sooner. I really am looking forward to meeting all you guys.
Hey Kikuchiyo, I'm looking forward to meeting you as well. I can tell we're all going to have a lot to talk about. This is way-cool and it looks like it's only going to get cooler...

I called it "'rasslin" because that's how my Grandfather used to pronounce it. Most peeps do call it rasslin'. I'm certainly fine w/ that. It's a good way to differentiate between the sport & the entertainment. The only reason I wrote (not rasslin) was to verify that what I did in High school & college was the collegiate & summer freestyle & sambo wrestling as opposed to entertainment "rasslin."It's interesting to me how Wrestling and comic books kind of go hand-in-hand. It must be the plotlines and action and of course the wrestlers both male and female who at times appear to be very much like superheroes. Yup. For most fans, it is the chance to live triumph of good over evil vicariously through others. The cacophonic symphony of brute force. I am sorry that it didn't work out for you. Don't be. I'm not. Either your experiences dictate how you'll live or you dictate how you'll react to those experiences. I'm alive & around to make more opportunities to succeed. That's all that matters. I learned from the experience. It has made me part of who I am today.

:DWow I can't belive all the posts I've been getting on my column lately we already jumped to page 5.
Today I went to Midtown Comics and met writer Dan Slott who happens to be a great multi-talented writer. He has written the stories to She-Hulk vol. 3. He is known for his comedy writing and wisecracks. For those of you who collect the series It will return in October with Greg Horn doing the Covers. He is currently doing the Spider-Man Human Torch Mini series. He also told me that he is currenlty working on a solo-series for some a team player who has deserved his own monthly solo series (well he had one back in the early 80s).

Hey Everyone :D,
Remember over the summer when I met Hulk Hogan for the 1st time well last night at The Garden I was working WWF (i will always call it that) Monday Night Raw & Hulk Hogan will make a return the ring once more at the upcoming Pay Per View "Backlash." So Last Night while I was at The Garden, Hogan made a suprise appearance to accept the match challenge this was the 1st time I've ever got to see Hogan in the ring in the flesh in action. I took some pics I hope they come out good. I would love to take a picture with him but I dint end up meeting him. But it was great to see him in action for the 1st time.

8)Hey everyone today I went to the Hawthorne High School in Hawthorne, NJ and who was there but crusades most COLORFUL member Mark "Sparky" Sparracio. He was shocked to see me when I specifaclly sed on the latest post in the file "Sparky's computer kaputs." Anyways we had cool guests at the show, Denny O'Neil, Mark Texeira, Walt Simonson, Tom Palmer, Joe Giello, and a few more. It was pretty good for a low budget show. I made out with 3 NICE sketches. Tom Palmer is always great to meet in person i even rated him one of the nicest this is the best sketch he as given me so far better than my Thing & Captain America sketches (which you can see in the "post ur comic artist sketches" file in the FAn Central Market Place) This Dr. Doom skecth was made by Steven Spielberg lookalike Walt Simonson. :o WARNING: For all the females who might get offended do not scroll down :o This picture i saw at a table by a guy named Paul Bonano made this sketch of Buttgirl ....oops :o.... sorry i meant Batgirl and i asked him if i can have it and let me have it for $5 which is better than paying that much for a crappy lookin skecth from Jim Salicrup.

:-/ well dont rolly your eyes at me remember ur reaction to this cover I was rolling my eyes at your comment that we ladies might be offended. 'Nekkid girl in bath/shower' is a common thing in, say, anime, and I've seen it enough times that I didn't really mind. That cover, though. Gkmph. I maintain the quoted opinion, and also submit they look strung out on something to boot. :P
