Allright the truth is out I was workign on a 5 page She-Hulk story portfolio for MArvel at the portfolio review. Now It was sumthin I just had do even though I would bomb. I already was crtiqued by Billy, Sparacio, and Lago. but this guy was a total ass. I told him in one scene i looked at how John Byrne did a difficult pose to try it out and he yells at me "Never copy anyone elses artwork especially John Byrne" which i totally did not do. Well I told him I wasnt expecting much I just was gonna learn from my mistakes and prepare again for Philly. As for Dan Slott I showed him my pages yesterday cauz I based it on the 1st few pages of She-Hulk2 #1 and he was honored that i did it based on that especially that I re-edited the plot. He was happy i made him keep photocopies of it. I told Dan today what happened he felt bad but his complimtents from me yesterday made it worthwhile.
Well the portfolio review did make me miss meeting Kane, and Jay & Silent Bob but this was something I just had to get done and I did.
Well I broke my silence 2 weeks ago on what was the big secret about the NY Comicon. And i told u I made a a 5 page plot to submit to Marvel at the portfolio review. & was critiqued by a total d*ck. I agree, you draw better than that artist. There are some panels where SHE-HULK looks like my aunt Mildred in the arms - all saggy and fat. The writing in the 1st 2 comics of the new series seems high-school to me. Well Joe That's exactly what I did I chose She-Hulk not only is she my favorite femme fatale, not only is Dan Slott the writer I most would like to work with, but I sed I wanted to prove I can draw a way better She- Hulk than Juan Bobillo. Now this plot was th e1st 4 pages of the She-Hulk2 #1 but with tosn of alterations (which Dan Slott himself really enjoyed my changes). Before I show you this is what Billy had to say before i displayed. Billy Tucci Wrote: on Feb 13 & 17you've got to have your characters have more "heroic" proportions. Look at "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way". John Buschema has a whole chapter on it. It's excellent advice and even I use it. I'd also work on figures and keeping them very, very clean. You know, use an "X" for the filling in of blacks. Redraw a figure over and over again til it looks just as good as Jim Lee. I'm doing this right now with a Batman illo.
Your story telling is good, but you have too many close ups. I'd have at least on full figure (which I try to do) on every page (you only have that on the last one). I'd also have more far away establishing shots (at least for the first page) to show scope. How does that sound? Make any sense?
Okay here they are. Well what do you guys think?! I told Billy about what happened and he sed: Hey Frank! Who was that editor? Don't let them get you down. Everyone was a d*ck to me until Shi became a big hit. Oh well, don't let it get you down and keep on drawing. That Godaddy girl is f@#$ing hot!!!!!!! Well it was totally fun to draw. Notice my cameo on the 1st paged doing what i usually do. 8) (only I'd be hitting on SHe-Hulk instead of Jennifer Walters) ;D note: this was scanned before I edited She-Hulk pose on page 3, Cage's arm on page 4, and adding the torn patch of costume over her abs on page 4.

I was trying for pencililer plus showing how I can tell a story in pictures. The plot was written by Dan Slott. I only edited the sotry cauz She-Hulk wasnt in the this part of th estory and wanted to show how I draw her. Plus changed the fight sequence to make it more realsitic. And added Spider-Man and Luke Cage to it.

One artist told me that nothing is better than having references and photos to go by. That was Mark Sparacio. I believe it and maybe that can be a tip you use in your work, Frank.

As a matter of fact see for yourself. I went and took pics around 42nd street at teh Mid Manhattan Library and around Bryant Park. apparently i couldnt get the whole park cauz my batteries died and i bought another pack and they dint work. Then I photoshopped a female joggers body into the pic and added that gir's head for Jennifer Walters. and this is the ONLY person i use to draw she-hulk.....

Thanks but I dunno if it's definite. I know i shouldve did alright on the essays but what happened most of the time was that If i answered a question wrong but gave a logical answer very similar i would get partial credit. Plus got my self 2 1/2 bonus points for identifying God Bless America, by Irving Berlin, but when as where he was from I sed Tin Pan Alley instead of Russia but he saw where I was coming from. My reasons for posting these topics on the Frankster's Files cause Dawn seemed interested at 1st.

It's not that I can't make it to a convention to meet Billy, just that I haven't had the time and cash flow to get the most out of the experience. Once I get some things squared away I will make every effort to make a show. Thanks for the advice I will keep an eye out for cons although I may be re-locating further on up the road.

Hey Frank you are the Man! I forgot about that issue since I was out of town. They have finally released a new issue of Soulfire and this poster that I'm dying to get! BTW, who were the other artists that contributed to the Swimsuit Issue?

My reasons for posting these topics on the Frankster's Files cause Dawn seemed interested at 1st. I am so sorry for not responding to you Frankster...I am so busy with all my homework myself that I have been dragging it with me to my job and trying to do some here and there...very hard to do homework with my active schedule....Wow 6 wrong that is great! I am intrested because I love to hear others feedback and perspective on music. Right now I am cramming to get my papers done for my classes this weekend and work on my speech that I have to do tomorrow. I have found myself after the music class I took, looking for music that I normally dont listen to or finding movies just to learn more. I watched Ray ane just watched Walk the Line....both excellent movies and learned stuff I never knew about Ray Charles or Johnny Cash. In my one class I am taking right now I just got done reading a book that I found very interesting and was a really easy read, read it in a day. If you are interested it is called "Having Our Say: The First 100 years" and it is written by Amy Hill Heart If you want more info on it let me know and I will post more. Oh, the Shi character on the wrestling game was awsome!! I use to be an avid watcher and now it may become that again..my son Nate likes watching it when I watch it from time to time when I see it on. His favorite is....oh shoot...I can't think of his name right now (brain dead from homework lol) but I know he is hispanic and has numbers and he wears a mask I belive..he reminded me of the cartoon Mucha Lucha I know if you say his name it will click..l Hmmm...that reminds me I needed to chat with my comic dealer when you were talking to Cristos about meeting Billy....I am in the works to see if I can get Billy here in Milwaukee for a signing...(crosses fingers) more later and cant wait to see more from you Frankster..
