Hey all, just wanted to let you all know I'm psyched for the Inaugural Washington DC Comic Con coming on May 2nd! I only found out about this yesterday I wish I would get emails about these cons sooner. No worries though, I will be in attendance. Some of the artists include JG Jones, Frank Cho and Jo Chen. Unfortunately, this is only a one day show. I would die to get some JG Jones art, we'll see how things go. Wish me luck! Cristos

LUCK!!
Love to have a Brandy from Cho. I've liked what I've seen of JG Jones. He's done Shi, hasn't he?
Have fun.

Hey, Chuck start thinking about about your free sketch from Billy You've broken the 1000 mark! Yeah, JG Jones did some issues of Shi the series and Black White and Red.

Thanks for noting the 1000 mark. (I don't think Billy's doing the free drawing anymore.) Thanks for the Jones info. I was sure that he'd done some Shi, but couldn't recall what off the top of my head.

Ok, here's some pics from the DC comic con! Louis Small Jr. doing a sketch and looking pretty happy about it, apparently. Steve Conley working on a sketch of Spock. The Joker made an appearance he was quite a character. Bill Meiggs doing a sketch of Shi that looked great upside down. Don't ask! JG Jones talks to fans. Some art and sketches will come soon. The con was fun. Talking to JG Jones was awesome. I didn't get a sketch form him. He was very late and it threw me out of sync.

The force was strong in you. Nice art. How do the brothers work as a team when doing a sketch? Does one do the pens and another ink?

Thanks for the compliment. Well, I didn't watch them the whole time, but I only saw one sketching. The other was chatting to everyone and getting details about what people wanted sketch wise. The cool thing was when I bought the colored Darth Maul, they gave me a free sketch. Then when I asked for them to do a more detailed sketch, he did it for free too! Cool guys!

Small is a cool dude! He responds to emails and is very friendly. Plus, his work is always consistent. Thanks for the compliments. I have to take a picture of the Bill Meiggs piece. I'll post it later. It's not exactly what I expected, considering what I gave him as a reference. It's definitely unique.

The Small pieces show what a true professional can do. Some of the people I've met around here are small press guys and gals, and, while I appreciate that they have talent, I never am quite happy with their work. You did well in getting something that good from your con trip.

Glad you like the pieces. Without a doubt the best pencil art that I have. The first Small piece was a model for Vampirella. The second was a dancer named Gina. Both worked with Small. They were done before the con.

Last two pieces of art from con: A different take on Shi by Bill Meiggs: A pin-up penciled by Juan and Inked by Bill Meiggs: The photo reference for this piece was a famous pose by Laetitia Casta, the French Victoria's Secret Model. I would post it side by side, but it is a nude. Let's just say the original photo is burned into my memory
