Great pics along with some great "gets".
I think you should just throw away the EBAS sketch or better yet, send it my way. HA HA. EBAS is awesome. I think that might be the first time I've seen a Shi sketch from him. Does anyone else have one to post? Looks like it was probably an expensive weekend. How much do EBAS and Manapul charge for sketches? EBAS is one of those guys that I am in such awe of, that I just can't approach him. He is an artisitc gawd to me. notworthy

Well I did get a second sketch from Ebas.  But the next pics I post will be what B did for Delvie and then I was on a mission for Delvie and was only able to get 1 of his 10 artists he wanted to do a Shi sketchbook cover for and I was able to get his #1 and it was Ebas.  Told Delvie I was super jealous of his.  I love Ebas's work too.  He was a great guy and super nice and it cost $20 for a sketch.  I think it was $20 each sketch, I will have to ask tj about Manapul but he was super cool too.  I know the one he did in my sketchbook he did for free if I remember right cause it was a sketchbook.

The last set of pics will be of these two eggshell art done in Korea, it is really cool imho, and the weapons tj walked away with.

By far it was an expensive weekend but it was worth it all and having a great time with B!

Awesome pics!  Looking at all of them makes me want to splurge at the next convention...but then I remember all my recent financial and spatial restrictions.  puppydogeyes
Also, I think Nate can totally take on Phoenix!  2thumbsup

Every sketch or piece of art I see I put up on my site www.ericbasaldua.com and I can not wait for the first time I get to meet him.

I help a convention (FACTS) with getting comicartist and that is how I got to meet Tucci personally and now...Ebas!!

I WISH!

Nah. I'm barely even a fraction of the way there. I will make my comic art fans account active & viewable by the public as soon as I complete the Tucci part of my collection. Sadly, I don't know how many more Shi sketches I can get from other artists. I'm pretty much out of blank Shi covers. Billy & I had talked about a deal where I would buy 100 white Art of War  for $5bens, but he wasn't sure he had 100 left & sent his intern to count them &...  dunnoeyebrow3 All the ones I've used so far I've collected one by one by raiding whatever comic store I can find in whatever town I'm working in @ the time... but that has yielded about 1 for ever 25 comic stores I go to.

Happy late bday, by the way.

Hey not a problem it was fun doing that for ya!  I will see what I can do for one blank cover and see if my Comic Book dealer will take it with him to the convention in the Cities in October.  If it dont pan out, I will either send it back or hold on to it for Chicago next yr for ya.

I will get that info on that one sketchbook cover to ya too.

It's a martial arts thing. She is wielding a pair of Sai.  hmmm
It's like Al Rio & the Ed Benes school of art students renditions of Shi. Beautiful work, but what's w/ the repeated use of the hindu dot on her head?

but still...what is the "mistake" then.
The fact that Shi is not Elektra and should get rid of the sai's?

Because now you mention the Sai's and first there was mention about Naginata's...

Just asking really...

I have no clue what is being talked about and I hate that  banghead

Well... now that you mention it... what is Elektra doing w/ Sai?  doh2 Oh yeah, because Miller thought it up.  eyebrow3 I love Miller's  notworthy work, but even 300 was widely  haha inaccurate. But then again, it was a comic (then a movie) & not a documentary

The Sai is a weapon used in Okinawa... not mainland Japan.

If Shi was trained by Sohei (grandfather) & Elektra is a Ninja trained by other Ninja... likely they would be using Japanese weapons. The Sai is only japanese by default & not historical... much like anything Hawaiian is American by default.  For the most part, nobody cares, but to a few of us... it brings snickers.   eyebrow3 To apply this to European terms... horns & wings on viking helmets  opera . Never happened, but thanks to repetitious bombardment by people who are clueless, most Americans believe bad history.

Oh, Kookey was going to show him what a Naginata was because despite Eric's awesome job on both pics, Ana's weapons were Okinawan & not traditional Japanese. Presumably, Kookey will be the next to ask for a Ebas Shi sketch.
