Looks like you get to see some amazing parts of the country. Of course, no one takes pictures of the armpits they see when out on the road. Thanks for sharing the pictures, and I think there need to be more places that "care" for trucks like the place where the ladies "washed your windshield".

You are correct that it was UT. but I can not say for sure where. It was on I-15 some where and the and a senic overlook pulloff just on the side of the road. a lot of these places do not allow trucks. but this one did. so I pulled off. and those were some of what i saw. here are a few more from the same place.    and have you guys seen any of these yet. they are huge. each one of those blades are 150 feet long that is the length of 3 of my trailers. they transport them mostly at night. but they have been putting up thousands of them all over.  and thanks I do get to see a lot of places all over the country. but since I went solo I now stay east of the Rockies. That is one of the sad things about going solo with this company. but I will not drive for them forever. |

How would you like to drive this iced up road. I was doing a lot of slipping and skidding that day.   or slidding into this rest stop  I will try to load some photos that i took. that show some of the dangers on the road. |

actually there is a Walmart on Hwy 100 not to far from me but i dont remember the crossroads and it is like 5 or 10 mins away from me, actually have to go there to get school supplies since Nate starts school on Monday, I will check it out and let ya know. |

Well I decided to move this over to my blog since it was not part of the con.  Well here is the story of this photo. It was taken in January at a truck stop in Montana. It was very very cold this morning. About 15 below zero without the wind-chill. And trust me it was blowing. Just walking from the building to the truck a tear froze on my cheek and my nose stuck together as I took a breath. The reason the smoke was staying so low the cold was forcing it back down. When I saw how it looked I went to the truck and walked back out just to take this shot. That is my truck in the center, the white one with the map of the USA on the trailer. Now that truck has a more interesting fate to it. You see when my 6 month sentence of forced teaming was up, I had to give up the truck I had babied and got running great. She was turned over to my “PARTNER” who in turn got a new co-driver to finish his 6 month sentence. Mike was 2 weeks from being paroled. Mike was driving in Dallas during the night time rush hour; he was in the right lane. Suddenly he saw a car on the entrance ramp. The car was all over the place. Then in an instance the car hit the curb and went airborne. When it landed it landed on top of the passenger side fuel tank. BOOM!! A huge explosion sent Mike from the right lane across 4 lanes to the left. Where he got control somewhat, Then 2 tires blew sending him rocketing back to the right lane. There again he was keeping control. Pulling it over to the side when another tire blew causing the truck to jack knife. But it did not roll. Mike and his co driver quickly bailed out the driver’s door. As Mike looked behind he could see the ¼ mile of flames that was burning across the path his truck just went. Somehow being surrounded by traffic he never touched another car. But Truck 11782 was quickly fully ablaze. To add to the whole mess, the trailer he was pulling was full of $3.5 million of Dell Laptops. What the fire did not destroy inside the firemen took care of with their water hose thru the back doors. As for the drunk that caused this, it took firemen 3 hours to cut him out of his car. But he died on the way to the hospital. Neither Mike nor his co-driver was hurt. But they lost everything. The sad thing is Mike did not pay the $5 per week for insurance so he really got screwed.   Rest in peace old girl Guys give a little extra room to us truckers so we all can Keep on Truckin |

It must just be me. I love when I'm boxed in w/ a rig on the left & a rig on the right. It seems peaceful to me. Kind of like my own little tunnel in the road. You're not alone, though. Just about every person I've ridden w/ or driven w/ hated it. My best friend used to get so scared that she'd almost freeze up, which wasn't good while she was driving. I'd have to talk her through it. I had to grab the wheel one time when she was between a rig & a wall.

Driving between a rig and a wall(sounds like a good song title) is always fun. You don't know if the driver knows you're there or not. Nothing like living dangerously.

the best thing a 4 wheeler can do is to try to make sure we know your there. how
well a few things you can do
1> if your behind us do not get in the center of the truck pull to one side of the lane drivers side is best. see if you can see my mirror. if you can see it i can see you.
2>The worse place you can be is in our blind spot. and we have a few. but right at our doors or a bit behind is not a good place to hang out.
3> if you see us with a right turn signal on but we are not all the way in the right lane. we have to take right turns wide so do not zoom in there. once we start that right turn we can not see you.
4> when you stop at a light stay behind that big white line. it is there so we have the room we need to make our turns.
and if a truck tries to turn and ends in front of you back up and give him some room. we need it to keep everyone safe.
5>here is one more lets say your on a 3 lane hyw. your in the middle lane and a truck gets on your ass. the best thing to do is to turn on your signal and pull to the right and let him pass. then move back to the lane. we call these guys supertruckers. (but thy are the assholes) the sooner you let them by the safer you will be. tapping your breaks at them is dangerous.
6>and never slam on your breaks to get evan with a trucker. we can not slow down that quick and you might just get run over. or he could jack knife the truck and hurt others. if you want to get evan get the truck number and call his company. if a bad driver gets enought calls on him he will get taken off the road.
stay safe
and keep on truckin.

that is great advice slammy but in the end i usually either just pull aside and let them pass or i speed up and pass them, the kids call me nascar mom lol
