Well I made it out of the mountins. I started East from Washington with a load of apples. the truck was loaded to the max 80,000 lbs total. i think I have a whole new group of gray hair from this run. I was doing this load solo. My partner and I have gone our seperate ways. well this load was ruff getting out of the mountins. snow and ice were everywhere. at one point crossing I-80 in WY. there was about a 20 mile strech that looked like a war zone. 14 trucks had lost control and were turned over. well becouse I was solo I could only run 11 hours a day. the load was going to SC. dispatch deverted me to Denver where I passed the load off to a team that could run 24/7 so I was sitting in Denver a whole day with nothing to do. so I decided to call a crusade member. BruceinColorado But I was not able to get with him. Turns out he was a bit under the weather. well I got a new assignment that took me right past Colorado Springs. I decided that I would like to stop in and check out Bargain Comics (Madia's Shop) so I called Delvi to get directions. Well the exit for her shop was not to friendly to semi-trucks. and it was not the correct street. I guess I missed it by one block. ( just as a side note. there is nowere to park my truck at the Comic Shop.) next time I will call from the Truck stop. so I picked up my load and now was headed to VA. and my travels took me right by jsniderfamily place. so I called him hopeing to do lunch. but once again fate would not allow it. he forgot to plug in his phone. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr So that was 3 crusaders that I missed out on seeing this trip.
what dose a guy have to do here
till next time
Hey Slammy!!! If you ever make it down south to West Palm Beach Billy Mac and I would love to meet ya!!! We enjoy reading about all of your many travels!! Just be safe in all that crazy snow and ice. Julie Mac

See? All those times it sounded crazy that I would miss a con by one or 2 days or be in long island while B was off @ a con doesn't seem that crazy, now... does it?
Stay safe, amigo!

Slammy, if you picked up a load in CO and headed to VA, you must have come through St. Louis. If so, then you missed another Crusader!

They are special, and Labor Day weekend is the Japanese Festival.
Hard to believe that Henry Shaw was such a visionary to set aside such a large track of land over 120 years ago for the preservation of plant species. The research facilities that have recently been built here are world class.
The garden also has a park an hour or so west of the city that was purchased to move delicate species out of the city when the pollution levels got bad. It is also open to the public.

well i know it has been a while but that is how it goes out here. lets see last time we talked I think was on my way to VA. well after that I went to Chattanooga to find a new partner. this time I found a guy that lives about 2 miles from me. but not sure if it will last with him. first off he is a smoker. next he is one of those people that every 3rd word if F#@k This or that. and over all negetive. He also is trying to drive the truck like it is his car at home. I really do not feel safe with him. but will at least go another week. because I am do for a few days off. (Ihave not had time off since Christmas) Our first trip was from Chattanooga Tn to Detroit, MI. and yes I did get to run by the house for a whole 6 hours. it was just not enough time. From Detroit we headed West to Portland OR. we did that trip in about 2 1/2 days. there we picked up 44,000 lbs of grass seeds and are taking them to somewhere in Mass. BUT right now we are stuck in Salt Lake City, UT becouse I80 is closed for the entire state of WY. and they are calling for more snow Billy you asked what shows i will be at. right now I am hopeing for Pittsburg and Motorcity. Ihope to do others later in the summer. once I start driving Solo. maybee After July.

Yup. Notice how I left the keyboard so warm for ya. I bet if you used the drop down history menu, you'd have found crusadefinearts.com/forums in it. Ironically, I had pretty much the entire weekend off, too. Had you arrived a day or two sooner, we could've gone partying. I'm working in Orlando today. How's that for another near miss. The Orlando MegaCon convention starts in 2 days. Sadly, I leave for SC @ noon. Damn-ish!

Not sure what the last sentence meant.
I was in Ft Pierce 4 days. I worked 30 miles away in Okeechobee on thurs & fri, but stayed in Ft Pierce. Pretty much off sat & sun because crew never showed up for a job in Port St Lucie. Monday, I started out early in Miami and left by 6:30 & by 1 I was in (near) Tallahassee working while he was waiting to pick up a load only one exit north of where I had been that morning in Miami. He picked up a load in Ft Lauderdale (I think) & stayed in Ft Pierce Monday night & continued on to TN. I am in Orlando today (& last night) for what was supposed to be a 30 minute job, but has now turned out to be an all day job. He is long gone & tomorrow, I'll be shortly behind him. Sadly, Billy will probably get here tomorrow & stay in Lakeland where his sis lives, which, as luck would have it... I drove by Lakeland last night.

Not sure what the last sentence meant. welll...2 days apart, you 2 days away from Orlando...might just be the 2 days that would put HIM in the spot called " Orland convention " :) But you well explained the silly amount of driving you BOTH are doing... respect!!!

Well Delvie is right I drove right past the Megacon spot. lastnight. and now I am back in Chatanooga, TN. I am in search of a new Partner. Today I found out my 6 months required time with a partner will end on April 19th. at that time I get a $2500 bonus. that is if I have my required 80,000 miles as a team driver in by then. as of today I have 54,000 miles. all of that in 4 months. I do not think I drove that much in the last 5 years.
And thank you Dawn for thinking of me.
They are saying that things should be picking up and they will start to give us more miles than we can handel. so if the weather dose mess things up. I hope to get that laptop soon. so I can join in more often.
