While I hate to get involved in political discussions... I have to put in my two cents.
Frankly, I don't think Bush is all that wonderful... in fact... he needs to leave public speaking on foreign affairs to someone that has a clue what "Diplomacy" is. He's my president & I support him, but frankly he is my president because there was no one better running at the time. Actually, I was looking for the "Just Kill Me Now" lever at the polls. I wish him well as a president just as I did Clinton, Bush Sr. & Reagan because what he/they does/do ultimately reflects on how many see me & my fellow Americans. I always end up laughing when I read some of these posts... especially when they paint Bush as the second coming of christ. I commend Bush on his treatment of 9/11... but I commend Juliani more. I commend Bush on his war on terror. I can honestly commend him on little else.
As for Clinton... In the end... regardless what the republicans & the democrats want to believe... Clinton no longer matters... move on.
However, for some to imply that Americans are for war is wrong. Hell, after reading all the facts & watching the powers that be, I genuinely believe that Powell & the majority of the presidents advisors want to avoid war as well. I don't care what my presidents motives are... it's a moot point. It's all speculative anyway. Most Americans don't want war... so in effect... we are nearly all Anti-war... however... Anti-war & Anti-Justice are 2 different things. 12yrs ago a tyrant invaded a neighboring country. After slaughtering many innocents & capturing many others the UN & the US/Allies rescued Kuwait & pushed back Saddam. As we were preparing to oust him, he surrendered & made a deal w/ the UN. Surrender weapons of mass destruction, long range missiles, return captured Kuwaitis & a downed US Military Pilot & a UK mil pilot, yada yada. 12 yrs later, Saddam continues to break his contract. (Not to mention torture his own people.) He was given his 29th last chance in resolution 1441. He passively refused to comply. So, just like any other contract, he must comply or be foreclosed. There is nothing wrong w/ disagreeing w/ going to war... that's why I love America... we are allowed to speak out when we think our gov't is wrong & not suffer repercussions. But to automatically assume that America is going against the Anti-Justice movement so therefore we are pro war is wrong. So... technically, the only one who can avoid war is Saddam... the balls in his court.
On the matter of USA's Police Force being larger than some countries' Military forces... well yeah. But what you have to realize is that 1/6 of the police force sits behind a desk. 1/4 are merely investigators who try to solve crimes already committed. That leaves barely over half that are actual first responders &/or immediate security. Then you must also take into account... the amount of citizens(both US & foreign) there are to protect on a daily basis. Then factor in the amount of crime they have to deal w/. In the end, you'll see that despite the size of our State Police, City Police, County Sherriff Dept & FBI(& not all of the agency, a small portion)... we are sadly short.
Ok. I hand the pulpit back to the masses... unless there is anyone I neglected to offend. LOL.
