I like Al Rio's art, but it always annoyed me that he didn't have enough initiative to do basic research into the Shi character before he tried to profit off of her. His 1st attempts were pseudo accurate portrayals of Shi. But his largest & most recent sellers have her as a Hindi girl. It was ok, because he @least got her costume (other than the dot on the head) right. Now other artists are copying his idea & selling crap called Shi. There is a piece on ebay right now by manga artist LEE RUMIKO that has a pair of breasts w/ a torso titled Shi. In this pic, Shi has a dot on her forehead, a choker w/ the yin/yang symbol & a bikini. The only similarity to Shi is her hair is up using Kanzashi hair pins. I hope this trend of copying off of people who don't have a clue who Shi is isn't a permanant.

Perhaps, I'm too judgemental. (Lickie says I'm just plain mental) It's just this latest piece doesn't resemble Shi @ all, but someone else completely.

I agree, there has been a flood of "crappy" ebay shi as of late.

Maybe they were trying to draw Devi. At least that is that only character that I can think of that remotely sounds like your description.

[Delvie]No offense, but what about this picture has anything to do w/ Shi? [seller]Honestly, I'm not sure. We are just reselling the art and not the artist. @least he was straight up w/ me.

This artist drew this in San Diego in 2005, so I am guessing he saw Al's Shi w/ a holy dot & then decided that was what Shi was all about.

The sad thing is, the face and hair are beautiful. But overall, the picture is a joke.

I agree. I even have trouble bidding on Temple's Shi art sometimes.

I went over to ebay and checked out the auction, Man that is quite possibly the worst representation of Shi that I have ever seen. It looks like a cross between Power Girl and Devi.

Man that Rumiko piece is the trashiest "Shi" art I've ever seen. I hope there aren't any new Shi fans who think this is what the comic is all about.
