Just wondering if anyone  knows of a good program to use for script writing. I had this idea for a great movie, comic, novel, etc. pop into my head the other day and I think I first want to try it out as a movie. So if anyone knows the name a good program to use the help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Final Draft is the universal film and tv program.

It's about $250.00, but is very sophisticated and simple to use.

You may even be able to download it off the internet from their site.

Good luck!

Thanks. I am sure that I can find a copy of it through a friend of mine who specializes in getting programs.

Go to the Writers Store website and they will give you detailed descriptions of the various screenwriting software. I use final draft myself, but the other one is suppose to be very good as well. I think it is called Movie Magic or something like that.

Can't speak to the other programs, but I definitely love Final Draft. Very easy to use. I script my comic books, comic strips, screenplays and teleplays. In other words, a lot of stuff!

That said, I recommend downloading the free trials of any of both Final Draft and Movie Magic. See which one you like better!

If you have Microsoft Word 2000 or 2003, there is a free screenplay template (with pre-defined styles) available at Microsoft's website.  In word, start a new document from a template, but select the option to search for template on the web.  Type in "screenplay" and it should come right up.  I use this template for word so I can send it to anyone and all they need is word to open it (it's also easier to bring it to Kinko's to get it printed).

An additional note about Final Draft - it exports in numerous formats, including PDF and RTF, and also is handy for registering with WGAw online.
