From what you said, some wrestlers refused to do signings. I think if I paid $200 for VIP & some of the people I was supposed to have pics && signings w/ backed out, I'd demand that those who backed out be replaced by someone else, thus your dilema.

I know I think the whole VIP thing is a racket & BS. It always makes things a hassle. I ran a con for 4 yrs & we NEVER entertained the idea of VIP packages. We thought that all fans, rich or not rich, should have equal access to our guests. Just because someone could afford a VIP package didn't mean they were a bigger fan, it just meant they had more capitol.

I totally agree!!  Calli and I did the whole VIP thing at Chicago the first 2 years and we both felt it was a crock of BS!!  We came out of the meet and greet with a bottle of "free" water and we felt so proud that we forked over 100+ for a few cookies, fruit water and soda for the hour meet and greet and spent all of like 5 mins to talk to the artist participating in it.  Havent bought it since!

Hmm...FanExpo Canada had a VIP ticket, but it was only $14 more.  It just gave you special early access to the con, more swag and free tickets to up-coming smaller cons run by the same company.  No extra special treatment when it came to guests.  (I went in with exhibitor passes so I don't know if there was anything else.)

Frankster, didja file a complaint to the con, or rather, a notification of what had transpired as a gesture of goodwill?  hmmm

Oh and I am pissed at Stan for booting off Basura on "Who wants to be a Superhero."

I know it was her own mistakes but she was so hot, an artist like me, and I so would buy her comic.

Until then Excelsior!!!

I agree. She was who I was routing for. What happened to last night's episode? The one I saw I thought was a rerun.

But now you could buy the Platinum VIP ticket and fork over $500-1000 for your own special line that gets you into the con about 3 minutes early. Granted you also get a couple of books and a few statues, but still you would end up paying a lot less for them on ebay.

But here is a great kicker, Cali and I spent the money for just the passes for friday for us and while we were walking to get in that friday morning, we find a premiere pass on the ground, tj picks it up and we leave that night, I looked at tj and said, "why didnt we sell the ticket? we could of at least made up for one of the passes we paid that day"    doh2

I'm not knocking the vip passes it's just that they can at least try to be good sports about and show a lil sympathy for a guy who was waiting his ass in line for 2 hours and while they go getting all the autographs like no tomorrow they gotta start with who's 1st. Especially if a non VIPer has a ticket for 1 lousey autograph.

It was like the time last year at Wizard world Philly this jerkwad on the Marvel line for John Romita and a few others had the sign saying "Last in line - 'nuff said" and we asked if he can pass the sign down to me and 2 others and he was shaking his head "no" with a sinister and fruity smile on his face.  Luckily the folks at Marvel let us on limitting ourselves to four books which was perfect cause i had 4 silver age Amazing Spideys which i did not want to bring back the next day.
However the next day at the autograph area they had the Romitas signning and i was luckily the guy who had the last line sign.  But being the nice guy that I am and experiencing what happened the day before I let 4 people who wnated to go on th eline cut me so i still be the last guy they stay for.

Whenever I usher at the baseball games and if someone asks if they want to sit in a certain seat whether they are injured, elderly, dont wanna be seperated by friends or family, or just wanna be close I always tell them "sure, but if the real ticket holders come u hafat move."  Sure I usually use it as an excuse to get a good tip without taking a bribe, but I know what it is like to be a fan and would like to help them like i wish someoen would do for me in a situation like them.

I know people like to go by the rules but u seroursly dont have to be a complete  cuss

After 3 different interviews and stressful weeks. I finally nailed a full time job in staten island requiring my photoshop skills!  flex Now i wont have to worry about becoming a Doorman or going back to afraid Burger King.

I havent mentioned it much, but I started at the very end of August.  I work for PhotoGrave and PicturesOnGold.  It's a company that makes custom jewelry and it specially know for having your pictures printed on gold, instead of shoving a piece of paper in lockets they'll make you a custom shape out of gold or silver with your picture printed on it.
www.picturesongold.com

Now I know what you're saying "That doesnt sound like our Frankster?"

Well honestly what I specialize in is my photoshop and design skills. My job is using the computer 100%.

I started off taking pics of some of the products, then removing the background, sharpening it, cleaning it to prepare it's image for websites and ctalogs. I also designed a few brochures which will eventually go into print. And as a favor to the man who hired me, he just got married this past weekend and I designed his wedding church bulletin and reception menu.  And as of late I started doing actual orders. I would occassionaly retrieved the pic the customer sent, clip it, shrapen it and size it to fit their order.  The job is easy and stressless. And I pay nothing to commute. My coworkers are very friendly and my boss is a clone of Billy (You'd haveta see it to believe it).  Anyways I'll post again soon if you have any orders from my job let me know so I can make sure th epicture is done right.....

We even have superman pendants... http://www.picturesongold.com/products/new_large_super_guy_gal__style_pendant_p64750.html

Well it seems i sed the wrong thing to the wrong people and it lead into an immature pointless battle.  Fine I'll do yourselves a favor and keep my comments to myself, but I still think that...

Greg Horn's still a Phoney
Leinil Yu cannot draw (your cockiness on facial detail just makes your chracters look awful and old)
Juan Bobillo is the biggest dissappointment to hit comics since Adam Warren
and Joe Quesada wants things done his way and not the fans way and his work is nothing to brag about either.

READY TO KICK SOME ASS

« Reply #312 on: Mon, October 1, 2007, 08:11:39 »

Ok Frank  The whole point  of my post was to make a point.  That point is,  using names like that hurts. And it sounds like you may know that better than some.
Using Bad langue is a bad habit that is hard to break. I am not perfect at it yet, but what I try to do when I am dissed  I try to come back with kindness. It throws them off guard.
Now as far as calling you a name that offended you.  Well  I think we are all one from time to time.  The true secrete is to understand why someone thought so. And try to make changes.
Trust me I was also one of those picked on most of my life. And I let my mouth strike back most of the time. The problem is it cost me a number of Great jobs and some good friends. So I have been trying to make changes  still working at it.

Next  no one ever said they hated you.  Well  at least not that I know of.   I get in arguments with friends and family all the time. Just because I argue dose not mean that I do not like that person.  It means I disagree with them.  Never meant to put ya in knots.

Last thing. Before you try to get a sketch from A.H. Go to his web page first  some where there is a rules for getting a sketch.

Well it seems i sed the wrong thing to the wrong people and

Yes. Adults who don't mind playing back.

it lead into an immature
& I present to you:
There is no way in hell I'll be getting an Adam Hughes sketch I tried two years in a row already and got nothing. And everytime I ask that b*tch of a female business partner

pointless battle.

That was a battle? Me thinks your imagination is getting the best of you Frankster eyebrow3

Fine I'll do yourselves a favor and keep my comments to myself, but I still think that...

Leinil Yu cannot draw (your cockiness on facial detail just makes your chracters look awful and old)

Not that I think you should keep your comments to yourself. Nobody said you were any less of a contributor to this forum than anybody else or that your opinion wasn't welcome. If that's what you think, then that's your own conscience playing tricks on you. To be Frank, however, saying something silly like I'll keep my comments to myself directly followed by 4 opinions before the end of the sentence lends no credibility.

In conclusion:

I'm an a$$hole because I think politically correctness is for pussies. Too many people have died for my right (& your right) to say exactly how I feel. My friends deserve nothing but complete honesty from me & I expect it back. If someone is my friend, sugar coating something for my sensitive feelings implies that I'm not whole enough emotionally to take the truth. For instance, most handicap people want to be treated as equals. Many feel that their special treatment implies that they are less than whole or not equal. I recognize that you were bullied & teased as a child & on behalf of humanity, I apologize for that. I too had a rough childhood of being beaten & mentally abused by my own mother who should have been my protector. But that was then & this is now. I'm perfectly willing to trod lightly around you because many years ago, something bad happened to you, but if you want to be treated as an equal or an adult... that is the path that I prefer to take. & in that path, don't dish if you can't take. If you are my equal, you'll be treated as an adult.

Well those words towards those people were actually me ctriquing them as an artist myself.  If you are gonna consider me being a little enviuos that they have jobs at Marvel then consider yourself partially right.  What can I say I cant stand when I gotta buy a book with a great story but awful artwork.

Here are more sketches in the link below this post but here is a little preview.

This was my very first sketch from March of 2002 of Freefall by non other than Jim Lee

Which is obvious this is only a few months before his run on Batman started that I was able to get a sketch.

This is a sketch I got at that show at the Garden which they do no more.
This was my 1st sketch from Alex Saviuk and this look like something that came off the comic book pages.

I consider this to be one of my most perfect sketches.  There is no ounce of negative space and everything is all neatly especially spidey's web pattern.

And here is one of Billy's You never seen before

Billy's unfinished Spider-Man from the National 2004 show.

You can see 9 others here

I painted this pumpkin last night of one of my favorite characters who graced many profile icons of this site.

The Teeth were made of discarded pumpkin and the tongue is made of newspaper, with lots of tape and gesso (which was painted over).

Please let me know what you think.
