The food business can be brutal! What else does she have in mind job-wise?

Probably retail sales for clothes - she is a clothes horse so a discount would not hurt.

You need to be careful.  Some retail shops will only give you the discount if you buy with their company charge card.  Also, a number of the ones my wife has worked at will not let you wear the clothes at work once they hit the markdown rack.  They also want you to wear their clothes while on the job, so you may spend your first paycheck on buying the clothes you need to wear at work.

Wow! That is good to know.  It is her birthday tomorrow on April Fool's Day, the same day Deb's baby will be born, around 6am or so.

Billy is a father for the second time.  My prayers are with Deb as she recovers.    I now have a formal "Mentor" within the company.  She is a Sr. Director and is about as opposite of me as possible, which is a good thing.  She is the bust out Tucci type of energy person.  I do not have that kind of energy.  Hers is external while mine is internal energy.  Extrovert vs Introvert.  Marketing vs IT.  The list goes on.   Our goal is to make me more able to work a crowd, show more energy to others, be more politically savvy, etc.

That sounds like what I am going through at Alverno Joe.  There style of teaching is different but effective and I am learning a lot of things there.  Granted it is a Womans College and they are very for the whole "I am woman here me roar"...lol which at times is very hard for me to do.  the journey will be long to get my degree but I will get through this (project grad date is 2011)

That's cool that you are willing to make such a long term commitment towards your field. What exactly will your degree be in?

...Inventing a computer board game based on Othello.
The cool thing is that it is being done in Excel and that there are 3 levels (like star trek 3-d chess).  This makes it a lot tougher to play.  I have modes where you can play the computer or another person.  The computer will have 3 skill levels (novice, intermediate, and expert).
It is fast!!!  I will try to do some screen captures and post out here for you to see.  I invented this game so that I could teach advanced Excel programming at work and at the college I teach at.  The capturing with 3-d is a little more expanded than 1-d.  You can capture through the middle if you make a move on the top or bottom in addition to capturing on the same level as the move.  This adds the NE,SE,NW,SW directions and 4 more possible bonus captures on a given move.
The stage I am on is that I need to test it.  It has been coded already.  I know there are bugs in the flipping routine due to me seeing that in certain circumstances it flips too many.  Over the next couple weeks, I will test and do clean-up in it.

Using Excel for things you don't typically think of it being a natural for was fun.

After thinking about it, all directions may be possible through the middle, not just NE,SW,SE.NW.  East and West will be tricky in that they could take only 1 square in the middle vs a bunch.

I am getting really close to posting the game on this site for download and possibly testing if there are bugs remaining.  I wanted to put in a LOAD and SAVE feature and after that call it done for now.  I was able to think of 3 levels of computer logic when it plays against you.
The 1st level is random, 2nd level knows where most of the opponent's discs are and then randomizes on that board for its move, and the expert level knows about positional play.  I have not beaten the expert level yet. Doesn't that suck, since the logic for it came out of my head.

I should be putting the game up this weekend for people to try out next week.  You just need Excel to run JOETHELLO.

I wanted to share these new items for the museum with everyone.
The LULU sketchbook. I received it and it looks great.  I might keep it as an "UNREMARKED" copy and buy another as a "REMARKED" copy later Billy starts selling them.
The Wolverine/SHI looks great and so does the silver piece of art.  On EBAY I also picked up the PP1/2 blue foil for $35 vs $75.  Here are pictures.

Lovely pieces to add to your collection.  When is the sketchbook due out?  I e-mailed my comic shop to special order it, then when I checked they hadn't seen my e-mail and missed ordering it.  They are trying to back-order it, but I'm afraid that Billy printed to order.  Hopefully he'll have some left over to offer for sale.

Not sure when they are coming out.  I got one from www.LULU.com without the remark on it.  Not sure when Billy will be selling them.
