I think the armor is really great. Her lips are hard to see in the pic. Are they colored?

Thanks guys. The lips are not colored. I actually intended this piece to be penciled only. I thought it looked good that way, but I decided to use my gray tone Copic markers and that looked good too. Then I decided I'd add a little color here and there, but didn't know where the "here and there" would be.At first I just did the skin tone, which looked pretty cool. Then I wanted to do the armor but didn't have the colors, so I had to bum some $ off my wife so I could buy some markers at $4.87 each. After doing the armor, I jst said "screw it", so I colored the entire pic. For some reason, I didn't notice the lips weren't colored, but noticed another area that I hadn't colored. The scan is actually brighter than the piece actually is. The tones in the original are a little deeper.
BTW, can you find my abbreviated screen name in the pic?

I think I will continue to do more pics of Shi in armor. Before Shi ever came into my life, I was drawing a character that had a lot of similarities. My character wore armor, had the kabuki makeup and had a katana as her primary weapon. I had somewhat of a backstory, but I knew it would never go farther than my sketchbook. Her name was AXA, pronounced Asia. I know, kinda corny, but that was sometime in the early '90s.

Nice, but the proportions for her hips/buttocks seem a little large and off kilter. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Suggested background for the earlier picture: outside a Japanese castle or home.

Thanks everyone. I'm adding color to that one as well. I played with the hips a little. I haven't done much else to it though. In the meantime, I did this pick of Emma Frost. I kinda like this one.  I'll be putting this on ebay sometime this week. I'll be putting a few others up too. I'm going to put a lower opening bid to see what happens. |

Good job, T. Couple of questions & suggestions, though. You might want to go w a smaller cursor brush. U sort of went nuts w/ the white going outside the lines & spreading over into her hair as well as onto her breast. couple of other significant observations. She wears hotshorts under her undies now? The breastplate is typically medal. The lone drop of blood @ the bottom... too light a shade. But still! Good job!

Thanks, yeah I overdid the radiance on the face, I am going to try to re work the entire picture. Kiku told me about the gold breastplate, I had forgotten, so I am going to switch that out. The blood looked a lot more solid in the TIFF version. The problem I run into is having to convert it back and forth to TIFF to work on it and then back to JPG in order to upload it. I also grabbed a few other Shi pics that he did, so I hope those turn out a little better. The hot shorts were a slight costume redesign, I just wanted to see how they would look. In the next version they go back to normal. I also am going to add a background of some type: mountain, temple, or building.
