Here is the series of rough sketches used in the production of the book.  At the end are painted inside pages #5 and #6.   Enjoy!

That was one great book. Perhaps we can do a "Masquerade - Director's Cut".  I'll ask Ray.

I am a fan of painted books anyway, so of course this is one of my favorites.  I felt lucky to get the rough sketches and to save them for posterity and public enjoyment.

That's totally cool!  I like looking at preliminaries almost as much as the final product... it lets you discover the creative (thought) process of the artist.

I was fortunate enough to pick up one of the pages (pg 11) from this book last summer:


I have another painting by Mike Bair and Ray Lago of the Black Cat:  
This one gets a lot of attention, as you might guess.
