Did you see that latest Al Rio Pinup item#6236666244 $300 is a lot to spend on yourself right before Christmas Yup. I saw it. It's not really worth $300 plus I just bought that Ray Lago preliminary piece, so I am almost tapped out before xmas.

I saw that one. But I still have to wait till I get a job before I start to buy things again. :P the $75 is a very fair price. Joe asked about the gold base. Have you ever seen a gold base on this Statue?

Not unless you're talking about a gold sticker. I doubt that's what he meant, though.
$75 is an awesome price. I paid $150 for mine.

Hey Crusaders, I have a question about eBay.Lately I have seen several sketches of Shi which I am sure have not been approved by Billy Tucci. What are the rules concerning this practice? I'm curious because several of them are hideous and I don't want people who are just discovering Shi to think that this junk is the norm for the character.Anyone can answer-Thanks

If they reproduce Billy's art w/out permission & try to sell it, that is illegal. If they try to say Shi is their creation, that is illegal. If they sell Billy's original art, that is legal. If they sell their own art, that is legal.
You're overthinking it too much. One man's trash is another man's treasure & vice versa. Ebay is the world's largest swap meet. If you like it, buy it. If you don't somebody else will. If somebody is going to make a judgement on Shi based on an item on ebay, somebody will need to get their head examined. ;)

agreed sort of - I always felt that really bad art ought to be challenged, and I usually would send a note to Gina when I saw stuff that looked like trash, and it generally came off, because ebay does respect copyrights. admittedly, the Gene Espy stuff is good, but he's still violating Billy's copyright (along with a lot of other publishers), and ought to be paying for that if he is going to use somebody else's creation. Being sort of a hypocrite, that does not prevent me from bidding on such... rco

on the earlier thread - I try not to bid against Delvie and the others I know, or more particularly, drive up the price when I see any of the regulars - but in the end I don't mind being outbid by somebody that clearly enjoys the art - the auction is a pretty honest sort of thing, after all, and it's a very democratic process. rco

agreed sort of - I always felt that really bad art ought to be challenged really? isn't good & bad subjective?
For instance, I say the Al Rio Shi art that was for sale for $300 isn't worth $300, but bigbooman disagreed w/ me because he bought it w/in 12hrs of going onto ebay.
When you are buying art you are buying one artist's interpretation of the content. Perhaps I am viewing it wrong, but imo it should be an all or none rule. If some art is going to be banned because it isn't good enough, it all should be banned.

This ramen-eating student envies you people's wallets. :P HA Trust me. My wallet is anything but enviable. If it's any consolation, I still have to go thru weeks of slim fast & oatmeal meals quite often to supply my Shi collecting obsession.
