You sure do get to see a lot of great looking architecture while out on the job. I really do like seeing the pics you post.

Where are they and why are they there?
They are in Dublin (columbus) Ohio. Right outside the Central Ohio Research Network aka C.O.R.N.
They are 7' tall. Concrete & no two are alike. & no matter how you prepare them... they're probably going to be gritty.
Also... they're about 3 minutes from the Leatherlips monument.har, har...if I'm ever in that area, I'm going to have to check them out! Also, that's one cool tessen/tanto. "My, my...what a pretty fan you've got there!" "O RLY? Oh hohohoho~!" What did it end up going for? The catherdral's a work of art. Thanks for sharing!

When the bells are arranged like that, aren't they technically called a clarion? Just curious if anyone knows.

I don't know about the set up, but those look like Clarion bells, our church has them but they were electronic and it was a tape, I use to have to change it and it was a reel to reel made back in the 40's that still worked up until last year when the motor was over heating. It was one of my many jack of all trades hat as the secretary at the church

Thanks guys.
Yes... as luck would have it, I did get to hear the bells chime... mostly because as I was trying to climb to the top for a better picture... I slipped & bounced off of 5 of them.
Yes & no chuck. You're thinking of the carillon bells. In a loose definition you could say that bells in a tower can be called a carillon, but accurately... a carillon bell is a set of 23 bells in a tower played by a automated machine or an organ. <--- (so I've heard.) These are just 7 bells rang willy nilly w/ ropes (or falling hoseheads).
Oh. While checking to see if these were actually carillon, I ran across this pic from the inside of the Ukrainian Shrine. PS. Just pulling your leg. Though some might argue that I AM in fact, a hosehead, I did not actually try to climb & therefore didn't bounce off any bells. Might be loco, but you can't call me a dead-ringer. <--- sorry. <--- low sugar

PSS. Though just a fabrication, falling and bouncing off of the bells reminds me of an equally wrong-place/wrong-time (but true) story of contemplation recently @ Burgess falls. Dawn & tj know the story. I'll post it later when I post the Burgess falls pics.

Thanks for the info folks. A book I've been trying to get through, "Swing" by Rupert Holmes (yes, the Pina Colada song guy) has one of the characters playing a clarion (organ keyed), and the murder victim was thrown from the tower (guess Delvie would say that she was a dead ringer).

Only if she bounced off the bells on the way down, otherwise, she'd be a base diver...
Is it really the clarion bells? I tried dictionary.com, google, wikipedia and a whole bunch of places and couldn't find clarion bells, so I figured it was the carillon bells.

Sometimes I get a word wrong in my head, and no matter how many times someone tries to correct me, I insist that I was using the right word. You may have guessed by now that I have been using the wrong word (probably a word that doesn't even exists outside of my own head) all this time. Thank you and Dawn for realizing that I meant carillon bells.

You know how it goes. I'll end up working in Long Island while you're away @ a con & show up in the town of a con a day or two before or after the con. Fate has a funny way bouncing that carrot right off of my forehead.

I was thinking along the lines of leading a horse around w/ a carrot tied to a stick. Which, in my case, fate keeps flipping the stick & bouncing the carrot beteween my eyes... ...confusing the sh!t out of me.

Still having fun with the weather, huh? We have been getting rain and a "winter mix', but nothing more dangerous than wet roads. Still, things are suppose to cool down below freezing again tonight. And, of course, schools are closed for the holiday, but I have to be in a meeting until 7pm tomorrow.

yep, it has been like everyother day snow. Went out yesterday to move the car out of the middle of the driveway so tj could park the truck and my feet decided that I needed to play in the snow and make a snow angel in the driveway!!
