Not to burst anyone's bubble but Zhang Ziyi has not been cast as Shi. There are no official pronouncements anywhere stating that she is starring in Shi. I don't know where it went, but there was a place at the crusade site news section that said Zhang Ziyi was slated to star as Ana in the film. I couldn't find it last time I looked, but it was there somewhere. |

It was mentioned on this site that Mimi was very interested in trying to get Zhang Ziyi to accept a role in the film. I do not think an agreement has been made or places like Google news, MSN, Yahoo, or any entertainment news site would announce the deal. Zhang Ziyi's publicist or even herself would announce it publicly as well. This has not happened so I think it is safe to say for the time being that the Shi casting choice has not been made.

Obviously, this movie is not going to be made according
to Billy's Original vision of Shi.I'm thinking that maybe for
this to happen the Character need more mainstream exposure.I think an interesting way to go would be a videogame.I know that most of the members here are not gamers but here are some possibilties.
*Being able to develop the Character through gameplay
and in-game movies.
*A customizable Shi: for example choosing a fighting style
such as stealth or head-on type of fighting.
*Take a page from recent X-Men Legends game and be
able to find comic covers as well as character sketches
and design.
*Unlockable interviews with Billy Tuccci in which he describes his motivations for creating Shi and possible
Directions for the future.
These are just ideas off the top of my head, I've seen
the capabilities of the PS3 and now seems like a good
time to consider this. What do you think?

I agree with the game idea. My husband (Tj) cant wait to get his hands on the new Playstation. When he found out that there is going to be a Darkness game and Witchblade game he flipped.
I will say he did come across something really cool the other day to customize his bike. He is waiting for his commission from Billy to see if he is going to use his pic or my pic or he may ask Billy permission to use a different pic. But as soon as it happens we will take a pic and post it and the information about it if anyone else owns a bike and might want to do that too.

That is a cool pic, I would love to do that to my car, lets just say I am not that artistic. He did find a place that could do glass etchings, but he doesn't want to do that because it makes the glass weak. I don't have a pic up but my plates for my 99' Firebird are Reshiki (sp) The stupid Milwaukee DMV wouldn't let me have Shi..

I haven't lost my faith in the future release of this movie,just offering ideas on how to get Shi more exposure.This would create more interest in the character, which in turn would make the movie more successful.Hopefully with a successful Shi movie under his belt Billy won't have to comprimise as much.

The project and script are too far along to stop now. IIRC, Mimi's option runs out sometime this month (if it hasn't already), but it's her choice whether or not to renew it, not Billy's: remember, she is paying him to write that script. I do think a movie will be made, but -- as Billy's said here time and time again -- it won't be Shi as we know it. Hell, even the casting choices aren't his decision, though he can definitely stress his preferences. Billy, however, is doing his damndest to make sure it'll be a good movie regardless, and I will give him as much support as I can in the meantime.
People seem to forget now and again that the past year was an extremely stressful and depressing one for Billy, especially as he had to watch his much-loved intellectual property altered so radically it wouldn't be recognizable as Shi if not for the names. His rationale for enduring as long as he has is a very simple one, and I guessed it before he ever told me what it was: by making this movie, he gets his foot into Hollywood's door, which will ensure he gets the necessary exposure and interest so that he will be able to make the movie he wants to.
IMnsHO, censure and nagging are the last things he deserves.
Addendum: Billy, feel free to edit my post if you have to, like the bit after the last colon. No need for anyone to get in trouble. I just got tired of (mostly) holding my tongue. You know what I think, anyway.
