Hello Crusaders.

Just want to let you all know that Shi Producer Mimi Polk Gitlin has given Kevin Bernhardt and myself the greenlight to start writing the screenplay.  I will keep you all up to date on the progress on this thread.  I am writing the opening scene today.  Kevin and I will be switching scenes but I'm mostly picking the action and the third act, since he's got a better grasp on what the movie plot is supposed to be.

I have a biikini wax scheduled for tomorrow morning.

I won't shave my  legs, though.

So, if everything flows well, and we all know that is a big if, what kind of time frame are we looking at in terms of actually getting a start on filming, then a possible opening date?  A year, two?  Just curious, as it seems as if we all have been waiting somewhat patiently forever for this movie to get made.

Wouldn't whacking Mimi be more cost effective?

Dear Delvie, c'mon man, you know I'm not new.  I said "IF".  I was just curious what kind of turn around time was needed to go from script to screen in a perfect world.  I realize that by the timeTHIS movie gets out, that I probably will have retired to care for my grandkids.

I'm not trying tio harp on you, but. Normally I would say this has to be a joke. He hasn't even started writing, and your asking when the opening date is? He said he would give updates in his first post. Give him a break would you. Common sense says you may be asking a bit much.

Just to let you all know what I've been up to on the script.  The movie will open up with Obon in Kyoto.  I've been researching it and should finish the scene tomorrow/Friday the latest.  Kevin has over 40 pages complete(!)  so I've got to catch up.  However it is the opening scene of the film and will set the tone while setting up the final reel.

I really like how it's going along.

I should finish the opening scenes today.  Because of Obon.  I've been researching/searching for specific prayers and what actaully transpirese during the "toronagashi" the releasing of the lanterns.  But I'm hoping to have a specific prayer for authenticity's sake (not sake', but there's plenty of that in the scene too).

I'm having fun with Yoshitora and his buddies dressed in the ancient sohei garb, drinking and toasting the bon fires.  It's actually a lot of fun.  Shiro, Ana's dad is very straight laced and not in any sort of ceremonial dress, while and her mom, Nishiko  :o  wears an obon-kimono and dances the Bon dance.  Ana and Hikaru (her brother - changed the name because of the "toro" lanterns) are dressed in full armour.

I'm about to kill a bunch of people in the script now -- actually I've already done that, but have to make whittle it all down in proper screenplay form.

Kevin's worried because he has 50 pages of dialogue and is waiting on me, but getting the greenlight took so bloody long that I was in the middle of the DC cards, Zombie-sama! and a Child is Born.  Of course there's also the new "Ring of Fire" Shi story arc breakdowns that will take place before "Hot Target", but we've got to discuss some plot points first anyway.
