@ 8,000 light years away, this formation is really just a sub-cloud breaking away from the Carina Nebula.
But as someone from cellar.org pointed out, the cloud is much more interesting when interpreted as
the last message of Him to His creation.

This 34 month old tigress(26 mnth @ time of pic), named Sai Mai, was born in captivity and breast-fed by a female pig
for four months after her birth. So, unlike most tigers who would make a happy meal
out of piglets, Sai Mai enjoys playing w/ them. Sai Mai is located in a zoo in Chonburi
province, 50 miles east of Bangkok.

I've seen other images from the sequence, and part of the story.  The plane malfunctioned, but the pilot held it till he was sure that it would not hit the crowd, then punched out.  I believe he did survive.

Yup. He managed to stay in long enough to veer the aircraft away from a neighborhood & into neighboring trees.

That's a cool pic Delvie. How many pieces of Shi art do you have, and how do you display them?

Title: Re: Crusader's IMAGE of the day...
Post by: Delvie on Mon, March 29, 2004, 16:15:31
That's kind of a difficult question

I have a few

;)

I Matte everything, even things that someone would say, "but why?" I try to matte the art & put a blurb matted also which usually has a few words from the artist detailing the process or his interest in Shi. I have little room currently, so I am looking to build or buy a couple of store poster racks & revamp them. A matted picture in each display baoard & the shelves below that would have held the rolled up posters in the store wiill become my Shi comic book shelf.

I try to be creative w/ many of the matting & design a more complex display out of it. Here are a few plans for some of my art.

The bottom right side of the Grifter Shi display will actually be the color comic page

If you look at it in a certain light, you may notice that those fellows are. . . .wel . . . a little . . . aroused?

Title: Taro Iketani's THE SAMURAI
Post by: Delvie on Fri, August 5, 2005, 08:56:46
I'm sure most of you have seen Taro Iketani's THE SAMURAI by now, but I don't believe it has ever been posted here before. I was looking back through my folder archives & remembered it.

Quote
THE SAMURAI, featuring Taro Iketani, is a theater work about the desting of the Samurai warriors. It is Taro's goal to create a new stage category to convey the sensation of "Bushido," the chivalry of the Samurai so close to the hearts of the Japanese. He has designed this performance to be enjoyed and appreciated by people from all walks of life.

Through exciting sword fighting, traditional and modern Japanese music, dancing, and authentic costumes, THE SAMURAI tells a story of poetic justice, stressing the precious value of life. "Live by the sword, and die by the sword"-- this is the destiny of the Samurai.

The Kennedy Center showcased internationally acclaimed actor Taro Iketani and his stage drama, THE SAMURAI on Saturday, April 8, 2000 at 6 p.m & it was broadcast live on the internet during it's taping.

Below is the 16 min. taping & it requires realplayer to view. Hope you enjoy.

The Shi cover Nagel-style is cool to me because I was a

Here in Detroit we have had a mild winter.
We have had more rain than snow.
Well this morning I woke up to a fresh blanket of snow.
No one has walked on it.
And the sun has not started to melt it of the branches yet.
So I grabbed my camera and went out in my back yard
in search of the
Crusader's IMAGE of the Day!
Here are the shots I came up with.
I could not get it down to just one.

Nice pics sllamky01! I was going to post some pics of
deer hanging out back but I didn't have my camera set up right and I just got 5 pairs of glowing eyes in the dark staring at me.I'll catch them in the Spring when they're just wandering about casually during the day.

In the town I live in people who get approved are paid to kill deer and the meat is given to the less fortunate.
You know that there's a problem with an over population
of deer when you see 10-15 while your'e walking down the street :o

These are the kind of thing my wife loves.  Whenever we're shopping and she comes across a card rack with these type of images she spends more than a few minutes looking them over.  We usually pull out a pen and a piece of scrap paper and start writing down names and websites, then check them out when we get home.

I love Lois Royo. There is an original Royo on ebay, but it is out of my price range right now. If I'm paying $800, I would prefer it be of Shi. It would be cool for Royo to do Shi, but I can't afford the commission right now.

I agree about Royo's work being better than J.G Jones.
I have an Original Shi page by Jones and it doesn't compare to anything Luis has done.
A Shi cover by Royo would be awesome but Billy would have to get on him, to make sure he didn't make it too racy as he is wont to do from time to time.

It looks like The Pussycat Dolls.

Black Eyed Peas are really good!  Saw them here in Milwaukee when they opened for Gwen Stafani!

I am paiteintly waiting until 10 am to purchase my tickets for Pearl Jam.  They are going to be here for Summerfest on the 29th & 30th of June.  They are double heading with Tom Petty.  I belong to the Ten Club so I can preorder tickets and the last time I was 13 rows from the stage...hopefully I can get a little closer.

Todd Rundgren
It's actually called "THE NEW CARS" Ric didn't mind doing another album in the studio but he said there isn't enough money in the world to convince him to ever tour again. They start touring in May w/ Blondie & it's called "THE ROAD RAGE TOUR"

LOL

I was taught that a warrior should be just as gentle as he is fierce. Witnessing (or helping) the birth of a newborn is more precious than splitting a skull.

Lickie has 2 Scotties. I grew up w/ a Collie named Prince & a german shepherd/husky/wolf mutt named Icon & a cat named Barnabas. I like just about everything except mosquito & cockroaches. I've had boa, king snakes, gecko, newts, iguana, butterflies, seahorses, pipefish, rays & different assorted fish. The usual. Large dogs do love me because w/ my size, I'm not afraid to play rough. I let them clamp down on my arms more than average.

When I can afford to build the home I have designed (dreams, dreams, dreams), there will be a 20'x20' terrarium in the center w/ a pond. The terrarium will be a butterfly farm & the pond will have fresh water rays. (I would love a larger salt water pool that I could stock w/ larger rays.) Other pets I will have seperately will be seahorses & dragonfish. All the above require attention that is not possible w/ me on the road & such. Those are the 4 ideal pets for me. I also like the Fijin Iguana, but it is an endangered species & not legal as a pet.

PS. I'm a sucker for great danes

That is a lot of different pets.  Delvie you sound like one ot Tj's coworkers...he had at one time 3 monkeys and other wild animals...I would have to have tj post on that one.  He doesnt have the moneys anymore because they bit him and he put them down.

My mom always told me I should of been a Vet.  I was always coming home with an animal and wanted to take care of them.  It drove her nuts because I could go to any animal and pet them.  My dad use to have a dog that was half dog and half wolf he was white and his name was Bo.  That dog was as tall as me on all fours and close to 6 ft on his hind legs.  NO one went by that dog!  Well, I did when my dad was around because he raised it.  I wasnt suppose to try to pet him without my dad there and I got cocky and showed my friend that I could pet him.  Nothing like going to Kindergarten with stiches and a patch on your cheek.   LOL

Icon was a playful girl. But the way she jumped @ everybody scared the hell out of them. She wanted to jump on them & lick, but her chain was attached to 6 lengths of steel line stretched between 2 posts. Her chain would stop her just short.  She was fast, too. When she was @ the opposite end of the line & she wanted to come & play, she'd scare the hell out of most people. Her collar & 8' chain was connected to 50' cables. She would run the length of it straight @ you. I remember a lot of times laughing as people started running away.

Bo was pretty much the sameway.  I loved dog even thought he bit me!

We lived in town and he was chained to the light pole next to the garage and no one ever went through.  There was a cop that lived behind us and he was going to ticket my dad and his wife told him not to because we had the safest neighborhood!

He did get loose 3 times and one of the times he went after the mailman and the mailman always carried a gun because of Bo.  LOL  That is when he had to be put down it was pretty sad.

The best was in winter!  My dad would be outside with us and i would throw a rope out to Bo and hop on a sled and he would pull my brother and I down the hill on the sled or we would play tug of war with him!  He was the gentelst dog when my dad was around and then very protective of his territory.  He was a beatuiful dog.  But just like you Delvie it was funny to see people run away from him or they would tell my dad that isnt a dog that is a horse.

Nice pics. The last one reminds me of my home town a few years ago.
Where I grew up, to leave town northward or westward you have to cross 1 of 2 half mile bridges over water. A few years ago I was visiting & dad & I were driving across one of the bridges. The drought was so bad that the 1/2 mile wide riverbed had shrunk to 20' wide. The rest of the river bed had a nice green lawn of grass & weeds. As a joke somebody had painted a large billboard so well that it looked professional & stuck it in the middle of the dried riverbed w/ 2 posts. The sign read "LOTS FOR SALE". I remember laughing my arse off when I saw it & then my ever stoic father saying in his deep voice "I don't think it's very FUNNY. Somebody should take it down;" which made me crack up worse.

Please delete that last post. I let my children look over my shoulder when I'm on this site, because I normally don't have any fear of what fellow boardmembers might post. I was really taken aback when this image appeared. Though you may find it to be an innocent pic, because of what it represents, I think has no place on this board. I am thankful that none of my children were around when this appeared. Thank you for rerading my request.

Although I laughed when I saw it & even downloaded it to send to my brother. I don't believe in censorship, but there are several children who view this website. We probably should keep the limit of what we post to scantily clad men or women & draw the line there. No harm done if you delete soon before a lot of people get on.

Not at all. There is a time & a place for everything. I presume that I have been respectful to people's reasonable sensibilities. I believe in censoring myself, not by others. It's all a respect & common sense thing, really.

My sister sent me a chain email that had a bunch of bogus quotes attributed to one of my heroes Robin Williams. It did, however, have a priceless t-shirt.

It says "I LOVE NEW YORK" in Arabic

It's farcical. I'm sure the person who made it had planned on us not dissecting it & playing along to possibly be humored.

Yup. I love the cat & Lickie does, too. She's alergic to her, but she loves her. She's just not equipped to deal w/ raising kittens or the possibility that something will be wrong w/ the kittens. We need to find a home for mom & the kittens. I think Tora or Billy are swinging by to grab them & take them home after Baltimore.

Yah. Rayden was always my favorite character from MK. I wasn't too sure I liked Christopher for the part, til I saw James Remar playing it in the sequal. The writers wrote a lot of attitude into Chris' part that I missed in part deux.

I was a fuel cell technician, and we worked INSIDE the wings! It's cramped, nasty, and you have to wear a full face respirator with supplied air which tends to cut down on your visibility and mobility! Plus I did that for over 16 years! You get really banged up and bruised in there! I felt the time was right for the younger guys to do that! And 22 years total time spent in the military was enough for me! Time to move on to other things!!

When I was in college I had a fraternity Big Sister who enlisted and was sent to language school in So. Cal.  After graduating having learned Manderin, she was sent to South Korea to be a "secretary".  Never brought into that, told her that I thought she was monitoring Chinese communications.  She brow-beat me into understanding that she was just a lowly secretary, for my own good.

No, no window at all! Remember, I'm working inside the wings! We did have explosion proof lights, but when they went out (as the very often did!) we were in pitch blackness!

Air Force test

Subject: Air Force test

This one will drive you nuts!!

The object of the game is to move the red block around without getting hit

by the blue blocks or touching the black walls.

If you can go longer than 18 seconds you are phenomenal.

It's been said that the US Air Force uses this for fighter pilots. They are

expected to go for at least 2 minutes.

Give it a try!!

I've got it to 11.36 seconds

Title: Re: Crusader's IMAGE of the day...

After several tries, I got to 17.281 seconds.  I had to figure out the pattern of movement to get past 6 seconds, then it went well for a while.

You'll notice that his sheet music is closed. Or maybe the song doesn't require that diverse a beat.

(Can it be called a beat when using the brushes?)

The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra does a similar concert where all the musicians and most of the audience dress up at Halloween.  My wife and I went one year, and our favorite performer's costume was one of a cellist in baby clothing with a train track running around his chair and stand.

Yeah, I noticed but figured that maybe they were warming up or something.

Everything seems fine until just a little shy of 1/2way through the vid when the daft punk song speeds up. I wonder how many takes they had to do of this. It certainly doesn't look like the vid is recorded slow and then sped up.

Yesterday I went to the movies with a friend of mine (Spiderwick Chronicles) in Eindhoven, Holland

As soon as we walked underneath the trainstation it became obvious (due to the many guys in uniform and squadcars) that a soccermatch was to be played.

Normally I do not care about a soccermatch but this time some 50 "soccer-police"-ladies were present. They were supporting (promotion trick by some company for moral support) the real police in their negotiations for better wages as well as giving moral support in their work with the soccerfans...

Would love to have "played ball" with those grrls!!

Ouch. Burn. I didn't mean it like that. I just meant that apparently, my voices scare more than just me.  :afraid:
Actually, this weekend, it's anything but rich. It's been raining all day & there's absolutely nothing to do here. I've asked everybody who works @ the hotel if there was anything to see sightseeing-wise. They all laughed. There's a revolutionary war battlefield, but it took a whole 20 mins to visit.

Just remember: 3 out of the 4 voices say you're doing just fine!  It's just that fourth one you have to worry about!

Downright country.  We almost had venison at our campout this weekend, as a doe ran out in fromt of our lead truck, made a quick U-turn and ran back in front of the truck.  Lucky that the speed limit in the campground was 15 mph.

Yeah, people in Virginia call Lynchburg a city. New Orleans was a city, Lynchburg is a suburb.

Title: Re: Crusader's IMAGE of the day...
Post by: pctchuck on Wed, October 21, 2009, 12:15:08
Suburb?  Of what city.  See, where I live is a suburb.  The big city of St. Louis city limits end about 5 miles from my house.  There are homes and buildings all the way inbetween and on out.  If I want to go to the city, I have to step out my door, get in a car and drive.  My hometown is a bedroom community.  There is very little industry here.  Lynchburg (TN?) looks more like country to me than suburb.

Title: Re: Crusader's IMAGE of the day...
Post by: cristos on Wed, October 21, 2009, 12:44:34
Lynchburg is supposed to be a city itself, but it's more of a hybrid of a suburb and the country. What I mean is that while it's classified as a city the entire place seems like a suburb. It's Lynchburg, Va.
My backyard is in between two streets where the deer roam. There are houses on either side of me and probably ten houses on our street which is a dead end. There are several areas that are wooded
along with a Downtown area that is 10 min away. So the city is a mix of buildings and country if that makes sense.

Thanks for the notice I've reached 900.  I knew I was getting close.  Doesn't Billy send out a drawing if you reach 1000?

I noticed VA, then let it pop out of my head.  Your remarks make sense.  Even though the nearest true woods are miles away, we still have problems with deer around here.  There are enough green corridors with the Missouri and Mississippi rivers and their tributaties that wildlife is abundant.  One of the largest manufactures in the area has a campus nearby.  As a defense contractor, the entire area is fenced in and access is controlled.  I've heard from employees that have seen standing deer leap over the 10' high fence.  Another area of the suburbs where the rich and famous live, has to have controlled hunts to reduce their deer population.  All that landscaping is a tasty buffet for them.

Post by: cristos on Thu, October 22, 2009, 09:07:14
I hear what you're saying about the deer. They are all over the place here and on top of that they are way too tame. The young ones are pretty much fearless. They can create problems driving,
since even when they see you coming they barely move. I've had to drive around deer on many occasions. We have also had controlled hunting in our area.

I'd like to reach a 1000 posts myself, but I'd have to up my average posts to more than .33 a day, or it's gonna take a while. What kind of sketch would you get?

We didn't get 20" of snow, but it was a lot for us. Maybe the most since we've lived in Lynchburg. My dog likes to drag and pull so much on walks, one of those sleds would come in handy about now.

Title: Re: Crusader's IMAGE of the day...
Post by: pctchuck on Sun, December 20, 2009, 12:35:50
Letting the dog run a sled sounds like fun.  My wife was moving our Lab from the back yard into the house years ago when he took off during a snowy day.  She ended up going all sorts of directions, spraining both of her ankles.
Another time I had left the dog out overnight in the yard, but left the door to the garage open so he could bed down out of the weather.  I woke up the next morning to see thin streaks of red all over the fresh snow.  Ends up that he took a liking to a bottle of power steering fluid, bit into it and carried it all over the place, splashing it all over the fresh snow.  I thougth he had bled to death from the amount of fluid and the red color.

Have you ever noticed that if you were to look under "original comic art" on ebay for any female character, that you would see the exact same pose used all the time, as if they were using a stencil to create these pieces?

Or maybe even stencils can't help.

I know from the outright that stick figures are a step above my artistic talents & leave it @ that. On the other hand, I can't fault people that suck from chasing their dreams, in spite of their suckage.

I have similar talent in drawing.  Funny thing is that if I visually see something, I can do a pretty good job representing it on paper.  But to take an idea and get it down on paper, with correct perspective, coloring, shading, etc., I just can't seem to do it.  I've given thought to taking a drawing class just to see if I can get a better understanding of my talents (or massive lack thereof).  Problem is I'm afraid to spend money and find out that I really suck as bad as I think I do.

I generally am NOT a fan of the zombie craze, but the artist who did my Black Queen did these. I'm not posting them because of the covers themselves (I'm just not a Zombie fan). However, Michael's going beyond just the cover art is genius.

ya trying for the full list of them characters. Oh   goooood luck. It will cost ya big time if you are noteven a 1/4 of that done. If the blanks were easier to get. Then I would snag a good ten for a all in the family style wolverine sketches.

Darkwinter  No. I either wrote it wrong or you read it wrong.
I was meaning to imply I have 5 Marvels Project sketched covers (Emma - Dark Queen, Emma - White Queen, Sentry, Stan Lee, Wonder Woman) & out of 33 characters in the border, I only have 2 of them (Emma - White Queen & Sentry). Since we've discussed this, I've realized that who I thought was Emma Frost is actually Jean Gray (grey?) & it turns out that I only have 1 character from the border. So yeah, 5 down - 32 to go. Ugh! That's 1/33. I wish I was @ 1/4. alas...  :noway:

pctchuckPlease do keep an eye out.  :crossfingers:

That is one HUGE tulip tree, or are you placing doll chairs under it to fake the scale?  These trees around here have mostly lost their flower.  It got too hot too fast this spring for the plants around here, but it has moderated back into spring after a couple of days of sun in the high 80s.

Lol, those are regular size chairs. This is actually what they call a blossoming cherry tree. The flowers have been in bloom a few days. Soon they'll all be gone.

Looking closer I see the difference in the flowers now.  The only flowering trees that reach that size around here are magnolias.
The dogwoods are all blooming now.  It's too hot for this early in spring.  Went from heating the house at night to cooling during the day on the same day.  Plants around here are growing fast.  I'm trying to avoid planting my garden too soon.

At a local St. Louis park along the Missouri River once with Scouts when we came across a herd of deer.  Counted out 35 individual deer in the park that morning.  Still want to get a good pic of one sporting a nice rack of antlers.  (Had to qualify that so Delvie wouldn't have too much fun.  And yes, I've seen the tee-shirts that have the antlers spread out wide and ask "How you like my rack?".)
