 :D :D Awesome! Totally Awesome!!! :D :D
This movie was so great that it made Star Wars episode III look like Elektra.  Now I'm not dissin Star Wars but I'll Tell you one thing Batman didn't have in it......
"I love you"
"I Love you more"
"No, I Love you more"  :-X <ulp>
Man that was just bad....
...Well back to Batman let's just say when you see this movie you'll totally forget about the last awful 4 (yea that's right i sed all 4).  Speaking of which you wont see no damn glowsticks that Joel Shumacher was so obssessed with glowsticks that he put them in 2 movies.
Well the cool thing is this probably the 1st time we've seen a full origin unlike the stupid flashback of just the parents getting killed. It was shown the way it was meant to be seen. Well to be honest this shoulda been listed under Action/ Comedy cauz i kept laughing my @$$ off in so many scenes throughout the movie. Well the acting was superb and the action was cool. And at then end you'll have a pretty good idea who Batman will face next.  Well I give Batman Begins 4 stars ****.

Oh, one last thing...DC totally ripped off Marvel on the intro well you notice how since Spider-Man every marvel movie has the comic montage froming the Marvel logo well DC did the same exact thing.

I haven't had a chance to see this yet, but if anybody has an Imax theater nearby that plays real movies, Batman Begins is also playing on Imax.

I saw the movie yesterday with my wife.
She said it was the best BATMAN movie so far.
I thought so too.  I think we are seeing the start of the replacement movies for the first several and a potential for a consistent BATMAN actor.  He did a great job!
Liam Nieson (i think that is the spelling of his name) was great in it as the villain/mentor.  I enjoyed Michael Caine as Alfred also.   The fact that Alicia Silverstone was not in the movie was a plus.  This one did not go overboard on a love interest, and focused on BATMAN the character more than the others.  The roots of commissioner GORDON was a great plot line also.  At the end we see the bat signal being used for the first time.

Been on vacation for a week, spent mostly in Branson, MO (where all the old country stars head to make their last couple of million), and it was an interesting week as the town was celebrating a "Welcome Home" party for all interested Vietnam Vets.  Anyways, the local Imax theater was showing Batman Begins, so we plopped down the bucks to see the movie on the REALLY BIG screen.  It was intense, with many scenes moving so fast that I couldn't follow what was happening during the fights.  My wife also has declared that this was the best Batman yet.  It was really interesting seeing the back story into how Batman came to be the Caped Crusader.  It really fleshed out the character, even though it was a bit different from the way I remembered it in comics from years gone by.  Thank god that they played down the love interest.  Katie Holmes was okay.  My wife loved Michael Caine as Alfred, but my son and I claim that his look is all wrong (Alfred needs to be tall and thin, and where was the mustache?).  Morgan Freeman steals his scenes as usual.  Gotham was much more believable as a city than in the Burton flicks.  A real good film overall.

This is a repost of something I made at Drew Geraci's message board found here http://www.eboards4all.com/555441/

I can't call it a comic book movie because it didn't 'feel' like one. It was more along the line of the Blade movies (it was written by the same guy) than the Spidey and X-Movies.

The directing itself was fantabulous, Christopher Nolan did a great job in making Gotham 'feel' like Gotham but with the twist of the Narrows (wonder when that'll be introduced in the comics).

An interesting bit was putting Arkham not away from the city but in the Narrows. A nice touch I thought, making Gotham that much different.

I know people who've hated the Bat-mobile...I loved it. It reminds me of the early-90s Batmobile.

The writing and acting were solid, I know people had trepidation on Katie Holmes, but I thought she did fine (although the Law and Order fan in me thought she looked a little too much like Angie Harmon and her boss too much like Sam Waterson). The best part was the under-played romance. THANK YOU CHRIS NOLAN!!!

Christian Bale IS Batman and Bruce Wayne, although I did catch the little 'hint' that Batman is Bruce Wayne (not vice versa) but oh well.

Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard's score was excellent and well done.

I want to see it again.

Oh, both sisters and I agreed it was a lot like the animated series. Which is great because that's the pinnacle of Bat-stuff.

I plan on seeing it this week.  I might even sneak out tomorrow to watch it.  Would really like to find an imax.  Do you need those goggles?  Or is that just Imax 3D?

You don't need the goggles. It's just a HUGE screen that arcs around (somewhat) to give more of an immersed in the action feel. I know there are 2 IMAXs on LI, but they aren't movie theaters. The Aquarium is showing Aliens of the Deep & the Grumman Imax is showing Fighter Pilot.

The closest REAL IMAX movie theater that I see is
Lincoln Square    1998 Broadway
Batman times are  12:30,  4:00,  7:30,  11:00

Finally saw the movie on Sunday. I really enjoyed it. Within that framework, I'm going to pick on two really stupid things:

(so, hey, this is as much of a spoiler warning as you're going to get from me)

First, the Batmobile driving across roofs was SO freakin' stupid there almost aren't words for it.

Second, photographing the hand-to-hand combat in close-up was stupid in Bourne Identity, worse in Bourne Supremacy, and it has been perfected to new levels of bad in this movie. I'm not talking about when he's moving ninja-like and we're not supposed to see him. At what point is it "directing" when the result is the audience can't tell what's going on? This is uber-lame.

Those nitpicks included, I still heartily recommend the movie.
