All the art is done. One way or another this will be out this summer. Thought you might like a sneak peek at Gene Gonzales' beautiful artwork.

That is amazingly kind of you. I will post when it solicits again. My letterer seems to have faded away for the time being.  :(

I at least have beack-up files.

This is written by you isn't it? I unfortunately was not able to find 24 when I had money, so I missed out on it.
I have gotten into the writing of a comic more and more over the last few years, so now I look forward to reading some writers, and not just the art.

Since you are a writer, I have an extremely lame question for you. When someone uses this"(sic)" in a sentence, what exactly does that mean?

Generally speak (sic) refers to an acknowleged cliche, but that's a loose definition.

Yep. Written and created by.

Diamond has both issues thus far still in stock, so when you've got the funds again your retailer can order it from the Star System.

Or there will be a trade of all three this fall.

As longtime fan myself, it's all about the story. Cool art alone can sustain for a bit (think about the early image comics), but look at the plain jane art in the early Valiant comics and the stories in them just stand up brilliantly.

Thanks, again, comrade.

I've usually seen '[sic]' used in quotations: when the person you're quoting has made some sort of error, or there's a spelling oddity not otherwise in use (eg. archaic English) and you have to leave it in, you put '[sic]' next to the error to tell the reader you know it's there, but left it as is in order to be faithful to the quote. According to the Guide to Grammar and Style by Jack Lynch, sic is Latin for 'thus, this way', ie. 'It really is this way, so don't blame me.'

That's it exactly.

You'll see it commonly used, though, to denote something said too often, such as a slogan or popularly held misconception.

That's a new usage on me. Then again, I hang out with grammar Nazis, so maybe I just haven't seen it.

BTW, I'm not saying that the usage is correct. Just that it happens.  :o

Well, 'sic' is used in reference to misconceptions and that would be considered as the correct usage too as refers to an error or wrongful use of a word, phrase or definition.

Like, Zhang Ziyi is half Asian .... BIG [SIC].  And there endeth the lesson of the day ...

Hey Jeff, I just saw(my computer was down for a few days, so I know that I'm late in offering my comments) the page of art for the McCandless & Company comic: "OUCH!", I say. That is red-hot looking art. If my mathematical calculations are correct(now be kind and remember that I am an artist), that will be three books put out by you this summer: The ultra-hot "24" put out by IDW, The white-hot indy published by you, "Twenty First Century Romances" and now the super-hot "McCandless & Company". Wow! It really looks great! I can't wait to see more. Good Luck with McCandless & Company and all of your other projects!

Mark -

Gene's work on this story is just amazing. A-may-zing.

Can't wait for you to see more of it.

Hey Jeff, I'm looking forward to it. Will you have any samples, say at Philadelphia? I'm also hoping to see another one of your projects, TwentyFirst Century Romances(hint, hint)...

Twenty First Century Romances is at the printer. I will admit I'm getting anxious about that one since I want it for Pittsburgh.

I'm just trying to find a letterer who can do the McCandless piece. The art's done.

Hey Jeff, that sounds great to me. I always want to work with you and Flash. Do you have a deadline in mind? I'd love to do a noir-type painting ala those detective book covers we spoke about. What do you think?

O.K. I saw Flash Tucci yesterday, and I mentioned to him that you would like us to do an alternate cover for your hot indy-book McCandless & Company, and he  said that he couldn't wait...  so give either of us a shout, but you're probably better off talking to me 'cause good ole Flash'll probably forget...
