This is also posted under Whale Explodes, but I sort of can see how you might have missed it there...

TWENTY FIRST CENTURY ROMANCES
Well-Defined Productions
$5.00 / 44 pages / B&W

Okay, a couple years ago it dawns on me: it's not that there's no audience for romance comics, it's that there's no romance comics for the audience.

My goal for this is to be a trade paperback later on with lots of additional contributors, but to get the ball rolling we're putting out this limited edition. Most comics have 21-22 pages of story. This one has 43 of story. Here's what's in it:

"Dreaming With Mary Sutherland," written by me, illustrated by newcomer Traci Spencer (who I think will be an indy sensation)

"Backstage Love" by writers Robert Tinnell & Todd Livingston (The Black Forest, The Wicked West) and another newcomer, artist Ben Dale (who's worked on McCandless & Company with me)

and

"All My Ex-Boyfriends Are Monsters! Really!" by writer Andrew Sands and our third newcomer, artist Joanna Estep.

I'm obviously excited about my story, but I'm really happy with everyone else's stories, too.

This limited editon will be available at the Pittsburgh Comicon.

Thanks!

And I forgot to mention -- and I don't know how I forgot -- the amazing cover is by Mark Sparacio (whose last name is now Sparacio.com, or so I'm lead to believe).

If you're going to Pittsburgh, it should be on sale from several of the participating creators there!

Hey Jeff, that's O.K. It's easy to forget me. I'm the quiet, reserved, shy-guy with nothing much to say. Thanks much for the kind words regarding my cover art. I am thrilled to be a part of something that has success written all over it. I am glad to see that you will finally have finished copies for the Pittsburgh Con. Have a great time at the show CONGRATULATIONS and  GOOD LUCK!

I picked one up in Pittsburgh and read the JCV story so far.  I like the story very much.  The art for the first story is a bit unimpressive.

Is it true that if you read it backwards, there are hidden messages in it?

It only works on people who have read 5 or more Harlequin Romance novels in one setting.  I was unaffected.

Sorry you didn't like Traci's art, Joe, but really appreciate your comments on the story.

I'm totally into her art, btw, for that type of story.
