Is that this? or is it an individual issue that the pic above is to? I placed it beside the 10th Anniversary Shi pic above Delvie old bean, I am MORTIFIED that you confuse Overstreet and CBG. Mortified, I say! JCV

My bad. Naivity strikes. I own some Overstreet Fan Mags & some Overstreet Comic Price Review & I've thumbed through a couple of Comic Book Companions. Since I've never paid any attention to CBG, I just figured CBG was owned by Overstreet.

I met him and saw some originals in San Diego. OH MY GOD! The man is awesome, and extremely humble, much like our own Billy Tucci. I definately love his Shi work, but obviously his talent doesn't stop there. If you ever get to see his pencilwork, you will be amazed. Thanks for posting the site.

Saw his name as a new member last week and soooo wanted to send a shout out "Dude, your work rocks!" as a welcome to the madhouse .. but I was too shy. *Peers menacingly at Delvie & Nishie to forestall giggles*
Bows down and does the we-are-not-worthy salutation.

Hi everybody, Mark Sparacio here. Sorry that it's taken me so long to introduce myself, but I've been incredibly busy(Thank God)! First off, I'd like to give a big "Thank You!" to Delvie for putting together that amazing collage of my work. I am truly blown away by his efforts. To think that someone who I have not met(yet!) would do this for me, I am very honored. It is something that I will never forget. Thank you, Delvie. I'd also like to say "Thank You!" to Joe Snider for looking me up and commissioning me to do a painting of the "Twins", Kaji and Kori from that comic book (maybe some of you have heard of it) called Shi. Did I hear someone say, "Signed and numbered, limited edition Lithograph"?(Shameless Plug) Thanks, Joe. And finally, "Thank You!" to the guy who writes a lot of the dialogue for Shi (and "24", for IDW and is the creator of the hot indy-comic book soon to be released, "Twenty First Century Romances"), J.C. Vaughn. For all of your support and help, Thanks Jeff. And now for a little bit about myself. I graduated from the School of Visual Arts, in Manhattan where I studied sequential art for three years under the legendary Will Eisner. I always thought that I would go right into the comic book industry, but upon graduation I went into the advertising industry as a freelance illustrator. My first professional job(while I was still in school) was a movie poster for the Peter Greenaway film, "The Draughtsman's Contract", released by United Artists. Over the course of my advertising career, I have done tons of toy packaging work as well as video/DVD covers and print ads. I live with my wife, Erin and two sons about forty minutes away from where Billy lives. I have loved comics since I was a kid. Entering the comics industry, has totally revived my career and I feel like a kid in a candy store. Currently I am doing a whole lot of published work as well as private commissions. Please feel free to check out my website anytime. Also feel free to e-mail me either here or at my own e-mail address: marksparacio@aol.com I will reply to all e-mails. Any fan of Billy's is a friend of mine. I am flattered and honored at the response that all of you have given my work. I am trying to go to a lot of conventions this year, so if you are in attendence, please stop by my table and say "Hi!", I'd love to meet you. I know that this post has gotten way-long, but one last thing. I would like to give an extra-special "Thank You!" to Billy and Deb Tucci, two truly wonderful people. I know that I've said it to you a thousand times(and you'll probably hear it a thousand more), but Thank you. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to do my first professional comic book cover, tips on and help making contacts in the comic book industry and just being great friends. I look forward to many, many more years of friendship and working together in the future. So thanks again to everyone out there who is a fan and collects comic books. To be honest, I am a fan-boy as well, so for me this is the thrill of a lifetime! Thanks!

First, Mark, welcome aboard.
Second, everyone else, if you haven't had the chance to meet Mark, he's genuinely one of the nicest guys in our business and is incredibly humble about his significant talent.

Thanks Jeff for the warm welcome. I just wanted to mention that I've just finished an alternate cover for IDW's comic book adaptation of the smash-hit movie "Shaun of the Dead". Anybody out there in Shi-land see this flick? What did you guys think of it? C'mon, I've gotta get off the drawing board sometime...

I haven't seen it, but I definately do. It looks quite entertaining. BTW, Mark, I met you in San Diego either last year or the year before at Billy's booth. Its hard to remember which con, cuz i'm always at Billy booth. You let me look at some of your work that you had brought along. If memory serves me right, you had a great looking pic of Conan the Barbarian in your portfolio(my fav comic book character of all time(, long live Big John Buscema, sorry Billy). Can you put that on your site or put it here for all to enjoy? Just to reiterate JC, Mark is one of the most humble people you could ever meet in this business. He seemed so excited that someone like me(average joe) would be so interested to see his work. The man is simply amazing artistically and personally. He even signed a few lithos that I bought from Billy. I will follow his career forever. Here's hoping for a long relationship between Billy and Mark.

Herr Sparacio. *kowtows* We're not worthy, we're not worthy, we're not worthy...!
;D
You studied sequential art under Will Eisner? To paraphrase Neil Gaiman, that's like getting God to run your Bible studies class. I am extremely envious -- but also extremely grateful for the way your work's turned out as a result. :)
It's good to see you posting. Will you be around SDCC so some of us can fawn over you and your portfolio properly? It'll give me an excuse to stop monopolizing Billy's booth -- unless you two happen to be right next to each other this year, in which case there's no hope for me. ;)

Hey, Kikuchiyo and Nishiko! Yes, I will continue to keep on posting on this forum as long as people can stand me. My wife Erin says I can be very long winded(and I guess by my first post she's probably right). Anyway, I highly recommend checking out the DVD "Shaun of the Dead", it's a great love story/comedy with Zombies. My kids and I howled at it, it was that funny. Yes, I studied under the legendary Will Eisner for three years at SVA. He was a truly amazing teacher as well as a great person. I feel very fortunate to have had him as a teacher and then to have had him as a friend. Obviously, I was truly saddened by his passing. He will be greatly missed. I was asked to write an article for the industry magazine "Comic Book Artist" that is putting out a tribute issue on Will. They also are using some art that Will and I had done together(check out my website in the new comic art section to see a copy of the art) back when I was Will's student at SVA. I do remember meeting you Kikuchiyo at San Diego 2 years ago. But I don't recall your name, sorry(hint, hint. Let me know so I don't feel too foolish here!). Thanks for your kind words regarding my Conan piece. At the time you saw it, it was only a sketch. I've since done the finished painting and if somebody can tell me how to get it up on the forum, I'd be glad to post it. Speaking of San Diego, Nishiko, I will be at a booth this year with Jim Califiore(excellent penciller on Exiles), Matt Haley(he of Ghost fame) and Mike McKone( new penciller on Fantastic Four). Talk about a talented bunch of guys, I'm a little intimidated. But please drop by and say "Hi!" As for a long relationship with Billy... you took the words right out of my mouth. He has a whole bunch of really cool stuff that he wants me to work on with him. So as long as he wants me around, it'll be my pleasure to continue this little adventure. C'mon folks don't be shy. Ask some more questions or let's talk about anything else that you want to. Believe me, I'll answer you... and it'll probably be long...much to Erin's chagrin!
