Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol This is my favorite cartoon version of this story. My all-time favorite "Dr Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas" Yes!!! The Cartoon not that AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL Jim Carrey movie. Dr. Seuss mustve been spinning in his grave when that movie was released. The cartoon is classic by one of the greatest animators Chuck Jones. A Charlie Brown Christmas That cartoon is just great classic. The scene where Linus talks about the true meaning of Christmas and that TREE that they buy is just priceless it's great. other favorite i like are "T'was the night before Christmas" where the mouse breaks teh town clock. & i did like that Flintstones Christmas where Fred & Barney took Santa's place after breakinghis ankle on Fred's roof. Anyways i wanna see all your favorites. Merry Christmas!!!

Anyways i wanna see all your favorites. Merry Christmas!!! Hey Guy's remember this post i started last year. Well it's 2005 Christmas is one week away and we do have newbies since last year I wonder if any have different thoughts. My list stays the same. Chuck Jones "the 2nd best animator of all time" (Tex Avery is my fave) version of the Grinch is my all time holiday favorite. Dr. Seuss and Boris Karloff must've turned over in their graves when the movie came out. I like the cartoon better in the book cauz had a little bit more but i know how people like originals but i see the original book as Steve Ditko's spider-man and the cartoon as John Romita Sr.'s spider-man (great but made it better and kept it real) Charlie Brown is a great classic and is celebrating 40 years of the Christmas special (which is 15 years after the peanuts debut). My parents and sister still mock me for watch it but it's a classic I'll never outgrow. Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol is still my favorite version of the Christmas Carol: Mr. Magoo as Ebeneezer Scrooge and for thoise who have kid's the character who has been revised on Tickle U "Gerald McBoing Boing" as Tiny Tim (who finally speaks in words) this also features voice appearances by Paul Frees (The Thing from 60s Fantastic 4) other cartoons have done christmas carols this was the best, the 1st, and the 1st animated Christmas Special on televison (not rudolpH). Evverytime I think or here Bob Crachit i think of this one. and plus they had the scariest version of marley and the ghost of christmas yet to come. Ghost of present beared a huge resemblance of Santa. Twas the Night Before Christmas something i grew up on as for th eclassics. Rudolph was my favorites as well as the 2 Frosty cartoons the 1st that featured Jimmy Durante's narrartion and the one where frosty gets married which was narrated by Andy Griffith.

Charlie Brown, Rudolph, Grinch, just like everyone else.
Just finally saw the Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol and loved it.
Scrooged is good, too (not Groundhog Day good, but good anyhow).
Miracle on 34th Street (original, but remakes are okay) is wonderful, and speaking of wonderful, It's A Wonderful Life remains awesome.

The Grinch song is classic, the voice singing "You're a mean one Mr. Grinch" is always a Holiday must for me. That and Linus explaining the meaning of Christmas in the Charlie Brown movie.I recently saw a article that said once Shulz and the co-creator of the special viewed it said " We have ruined Charlie Brown".They couldn't have been more wrong.

In our family, because there are so many artistic types, we were never allowed to watch telly during Christmas. Instead, we staged pageants, concerts, paint-outs (don't ask), plays etc - every parent's excuse to humiliate and torment their kids, thus supporting the psychiatric practice for many decades to come.
However, in my Grandpa's later years, when he could not move around as much, I'd sneak him some beers and a cigar in his room when the women were distracted with whatever. And we would watch It's a Wonderful Life. We wouldn't speak much. We never did. But that was our Christmas special.

Basically, we all sit around watching Rudolph The Red-nosed Reindeer & every time his nose lights up, everybody has a shot. Oh yeah. I forgot. The last one to drink has to do a double, & he or she has to pour the next round of shots. Towards the end of the night, it gets rather comedic watching people try to stand up & hand out shots.
I had an aquaintance who seems to have dropped off the radar who made a Rudolph music video to the BEE GEEs "Tragedy." It was hilarious. I wish I could get my hands on it. It would be a great addition to a Rudolph party. If I can't find it, I'll have to make my own using different songs.I can't transfer this pic because it blinks using seperate html. Check it out. It's funny (In MY head it is, anyway). http://www.ginnie.com/DaDane274.shtml

This isn't a special, but I have to say BAD SANTA & BADder SANTA are a couple of my new favorite xmas movies.
Lickie & I could not stop laughing during THE REF w/ Dennis Leary. I don't know if it is considered a xmas movie, though, even though it does take place during xmas.

I have to ask, what is a paint-out?

Sigh ... paint-outs happen when you have a bunch of fairly competitive artistic types fuelled by too much food and alcohol.
You set out tubs of paint in primary colours and the two base colours of black and white. Then you have teams. You must have at least 4 in a team. And there is an agreed upon "target" which can be anything - the Christmas tree, the goldfish in the aquarium, a word (like "involved" which was heard over the telly so we had to interpret that) etc.
The teams have 15 minutes to paint the subject using only the paints provided. Usually we get those crappy brushes you get for kindergarten kids so it makes the job more challenging. We have to come up with the best piece of work in that time frame. With your assigned team members.
Each year there is a "handicap" which changes yearly. One year we had to paint in the dark. That was interesting and scary at the same time and lots of sabotaging occurred. Another year we had to paint at least 2 feet away from the easel. There was the time we could only paint using straws, the one where we had to use only our toes, etc.
The hardest part is for team members not to stab each other through the eye balls with our paint brushes. The more artistic the team the more drama. When the time is up, each team has to present their piece with a "curatorial" piece. The presentations can be the highlight of the whole paint-out - the amount of bs is phenomenal.
The judges are the ones not in the teams and you are rated on Creativity, Interpretation, Composition, Colour Management, etc.
The best piece is framed and hung till the next year's winning piece in our Rogues Gallery.
Yes, we are incredibly geeky.

I'm pretty excited to see the new Broderick/DeVito movie, DECK THE HALLS, but the next time I get home we are actually going to see FOUNTAIN. Hopefully, D'Halls will be in the theaters still in January.
P.S. If anybody hasn't seen CHRISTMAS W/ THE KRANKS & is curious, it's on Starz off & on all month. Probably next month, too.

What i missed was last night tj turned on a channel (have no clue what it was being it just basic air) was with Mel Gibson on his new movie he just directed.

I love maya heiroglyphs & architecture, so I definately can't wait to see this movie. Although, it appears that he has mixed a little Aztec culture into the mix. I don't know if it was purposely, or just because he didn't know any better. The Philadelphia University Achaeology Museum has a really nice collection, although, I more recommend it if you are into Egyptian stuff.
Some other xmas stuff I got to see:
Jack Frost Call Me Claus Chasing Christmas Snow Santa Baby I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
