Shi loves me, Shi loves me not

This has now replaced Braveheart as my favorite movie of ALL TIME.
You must watch this movie. It brings to the big screen images that I have had in my head for many years of the Samurai and their way of life. Some of the battle sequences just made me want to shout alongside those in battle. I felt myself moving in my seat to parry the strokes that were meant to deliver death. The story is very moving and makes you believe in the way of the warrior. Billy, I hope you watch this for inspiration in the Shi movie. I really don't know what to say that would let you all know what this movie means to me. There are so many scenes in this movie that I would just love to freeze frame. Very powerful stuff.
Two katanas up!

Is your avatar kicking ass and saving the world, Billy -- or is it you?

Many questions, few answers grasshopper...

I really, really, REALLY need to see this film.  Should I sneak out of the house to watch it today?

Most definately! I'm suprised you haven't seen it yet.
I may have to recant my first quote about this being my favorite movie of all time though. I think I was just overly excited to finally see something that had this much to do with the Samurai Warrior. I have been planning to watch it again, but haven't been able to find time.

btw, what the heck happened to my avatar?

Not that this flick doesnt have its moments but Kurosawa did it better for less.

I love the Holywood jingoistic mentality that has an occidental Cruise be more japanese than the japanese themselves.

Great battle scenes do not a picture make.

I agree with you there. But with the way most movies are made nowadays, to captivate an audience with images, this one succeeds with me.
There were some scenes in this movie, that I would love to have captured in still photography.
It had what I wanted in an entertaining movie.
But alas, different strokes for different folks.

Go see it, dude! It's quite good and there's hardly any slow-mo on Tom's hair in this one.

Wonderful, wonderful story!  Why didn't I think of it!!!  My kind of film, very Kurosawa, just amazing!  Ken Watanabe had such incredible pressance, Koyuki was just stunning, and I didn't even mind Tom Cruise.  Must see it again.

I was kinda pissed over the cherry blossom ending, but this reinforces my choice to use Kabuki theatre in the Shi film.  I also thought the film's last spoken line should have been in Japanese.  Very moving and inspiring.

But damn that Tom Cruise sure is bullet proof ain't he?

Anyone seen "Twilight Samurai"?  Heard too many good things about it but can't find it in theatres or on DVD.

I've never heard of it. Is it a foreign movie? I guess I will have to look for it.
But otherwise. DAMN! It's about time you saw the movie. I figured you of all people would have been one of he firsts to watch it.
Ken Wanatanabe's performance was excellent. I loved his mannerisms and movements. I've seen it twice, and will probably see it again before it leaves the theatres.

Thanks Ito-sama,
And Kiki, you have to understand...

I have a 18 month old at home...

Movies out are getting harder, unless I sneak out.  But Deb's in NC for  a couple of days.  My mom's here and that means...

"Return of the King" tomorrow at 1pm Baby!

It's a dinky version of this:

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I think it's a traffic thing.

What in the name of Heaven is that?  Looks very cool.  Gives me an idea for a comic cover.  Please what is it?

Geisha meets MST2K?

Seriously, it appears to me like the silhoette of a robotic geisha. Manga maybe?

My avatar is from a photo I took of a Lotus Angel  figure from Todd McFarlane's "The Samurai Wars" series. I placed her right in front of my drawing lamp and "PRESTO".

Hope that worked.

Apparently my image hosting site has changed. I must now pay to link images. I will search around for another "free" site later.

I definately know what you mean...
I have a 2 yr old not to mention an 8 yr ols AND an 11 yr old at home. I can't get out to see any movie without the two older ones begging to go. I still have to take my 11 yr old to see The Last Samurai. Yeah, I know it's a rated R movie, but my argument to my wife is that it is a historical representation of Japanes culture, that my children can learn why I have a love for all things Samurai, including Shi.
BTW, I got my wifes permission to redecorate my garage (ie. spend a little money), where I house all my collectibles. The ideas in my head are great, I just hope I have the ability to transfer them to reality. I will post pics upon completion. There will be a large portion dedicated to Shi.
Also, I just woke up because my 2 yr old is not sleeping well tonight( it's 2 am), so excuse any typos and rambling ons please.
