Just bringing this back up for possible discussion. Thoughts?

http://www.amazon.com/Dustcovers-Collected-Sandman-Covers-1989-1996/dp/1563893878

If Gaiman and McKean can do it with less than 100 covers, then Billy should be able to do it with well over double that number, and I'd definitely buy it.  The covers are one of the main reasons I collect Shi.  Truth be told, I'm not really that into most of the storylines - to the point where I've only actually read WotW and the crossovers (sorry Billy! - although I did love Akai, and it's easily my favorite even though I wasn't expecting it to be).  I'd have a hard time just narrowing it to the covers, though.  There's excellent art inside the books as well, and so much of it all-told that each two-page spread would have to have some kind of collage of covers and interior art to make it all work.  While I think the one-cover-one-page thing worked for the Sandman covers, I don't think that would work here.  If I was doing it, I'd do a two or three page spread per "piece", with text about the art, covers, and interior art from the book (for instance, Cyblade/Shi IMO would only need two or three pages, with all 5 (6?) covers collaged on one page, interspersed with interior art as well - or two pages of text with the art interspersed along it) .

I think the hardest part would be collecting all the covers that Billy didn't do, along with all the random interior cameos that didn't have cover art.  But heck yeah I'd buy that book.

If all that was needed to retrieve covers that he didn't do was for him to scan the covers, that could be easily remedied. My collection is w/in 10-20 of being complete (& those are duplicate covers anyway) & I could always plan to run them up to LI if it meant helping get this produced (but I'm pretty sure he wants to go w/ a Tucci Coffee Table Book as opposed to a Shi Cover Gallery so it's really kind of a moot discussion but something I think would be awesome to compliment a Shi collection.).

so what would the differance between a cover gallery and a coffee table book be?
and I can not beleave the gallery book would be 300 pages.
Billy would not include all of the different foil covers would you think?

No, but there are 550 books so far to complete a Shi collection. After you left out all the foils & just made mention of them in side notes, you'ld still have 300 distinctly different covers. Honestly, I am thinking this would make a good 15th Anniversary project. When I put out the idea, it would have been original. Since then, Top Cow has done it as well as Marvel so the originality has vanished. It might do well commercially if it is released to coincide w/ the Shi movie or the 15th anniversary of Shi.

A Tucci Coffee Table Book would be an anthology of Billy's works from Teddy Bear prints to Shi to his numerous other projects.  http://www.williamtucci.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=CrusadeNews;action=display;num=1084283929 , which is actually a different concept. It was to feature bits & pieces of all the Crusade/Tucci projects which while being cool in itself, isn't the same as a Cover Gallery.  It would be UBER cool to have a Tucci artbook aka Tucci Coffee Table (TCT) Book, but given the choice, I'd really like to push for a cover gallery. Of course, you know me, I'll buy both. Probably even 2 of the Cover Gallery. The Shi Cover Gallery is for Shi Collectors while the Coffee Table Book is for fans of anything Tucci. I'm not necessarily a fan of Liberty Girl or Zoom Suit or HFH or a Zombie fan etc.

Just bumping this back to the forefront! I for one (and I know of a few others, like ANGELDOGGIE!) that would LOVE to see a Tucci Coffee Table Book! It could include unpublished artwork, assorted covers, commission pieces, and the like!  Put in a bit of everything! rockon
