And books that JC and I liked *NOT* making hundreds of issues is just something that he and I have had to learn to deal with...
For a while there, the sure deathkeel of a book was me adding it to my sub-list!  :-[

L.E.G.I.O.N '90 had been preceeded by L.E.G.I.O.N. '89.
Supposedly, the title was to change as each year passed.  I guess they kept the same numbering.
Otherwise, I am at a loss as to how there was ever an issue 19 of any of them!

Yes, it was connected to LSH.  But only in an odd 'ancestorial' way.  L.E.G.I.O.N. (I'm really starting to hate all those periods...) centered around Vril Dox.  He was the adopted son of BRAINIAC.  He was, therefore, BRAINIAC 2, although he was never called that.
He had a son who eventually has a daughter who eventually becomes the mother of BRAINIAC 5 of LSH.
In addition to all that.... An actual ancestor of Shadow Lass was a regular in the title also.
And maybe most importantly, VALOR was a member.
(Pre-Crisis you would have known him as Mon-El).
He eventually gets put in the phantom zone or something (in an issue of Superboy appropriately enough) and emerges as M'Onel in the new LSH title.
It's the SAME GUY.  That's a big big secret in the LSH title. (Politics...)
Oh, and the Emerald Eye plays a big BIG role in the series at one point...

Overall, L.E.G.I.O.N. was a pretty fun title.  Even with Lobo (persoal bias, sorry).  Maybe not the best of the time period, but it was no 'Skateman' at least...
And you can find them in Quarter bins all across America!
Read up!

M'onel is in the current The Legion.  Issues 17 and 18 are a two-part story about Ra's Al Ghul.  You probably know this, and I am the last to find out.  There is another legionaire called Brainiac.  These are the same line of characters, correct?  If perchance you didnae read them, Weldon, I highly recommend them.

OH.  Sorry...
LSH is an old-school abreviation for 'Legion of Super Heroes'.  That was the name of The Legion before they re-booted it last time.
Yes, Valor is Mon-El is M'Onel.  All the same guy.
And Brainiac is Brainiac 5 is Brainiac 5.1 (he got an 'upgrade'...)

I'm an Old-School Legion fan.
Legion fans are probably the most ardent and tenatious out there.  They have had to be.  This title has undergone more transformations than any other title I know of.  And it suffered from Post-Crisis syndrome more than any title except maybe Infinity INC.

And as an offical Legion fan, Welcome to the ranks!

Thank you for the welcoming.  I have a couple old issues of Superboy and the Legion of Super Heroes.  Is that the Superboy comic you were talking about, Weldon?

I just read Superboy and the Legion of Super Heroes #248, and I have one question.  Why does Cosmic Boy wear a corset?  I mean c'mon!  Is he a cross-dresser, or is that the fashion of the future? :o  The title is a predecessor of the current The Legion, thus I answered my own question after a little reading.

Why does Cosmic Boy wear a corset?  ....

Ha-HA!!!....
Yeah, that looked strange to me even back THEN!

Mike Grell (SABLE, Freelance) designed those costumes I think.
I think he was trying to make Cos look more 'Manly'.
So he put him in a corset??  Go figure.
There was also alot of discussion among fans of 'what keeps that think UP?'  Finally it was mentioned that it's made of METAL and his magnetic powers held it on him.
Kinky AND strange...

I have to admit, however, that I was always partial to Phantom Girl's 'Ponytails & Bellbottoms' look from that period...

As an official "Old School" fan, let me share with you my FAVORITE 'Lightbulb' joke in the whole wide world!

How many Talokians does it take to screw in a Lightbulb?
  ???
