This movie is unbelievable. Definately not for kids, so get a babysitter. I've seen it twice now and plan on watching it again. There is a Shi sighting in the movie. In an early scene when the characters are in a comic shop, there is a print of Shi from the premiere edition of Shi. I thought that was pretty cool. Finally Shi in a movie, lol.

Picked up the graphic novel and promptly went "Oh Shit!"  There is no way that they could do on the big screen what happens in the book.  Then I saw a clip of Nick Cage shooting his 10 year old daughter, and decided that I'm going to pass on this movie.  None of the spots I've seen for it even hint of this level of violence.  Was the movie close to the book, or did they tone it down a notch or two?

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've heard a lot people complaining about the strong level of violence in the movie. One of the people complaining was the movie critic Roger Ebert. I thought it was a bit hypocritical because he was one of the people that gave Kill Bill two thumbs up. I seem to recall someone getting beheaded in that movie and blood spurting like a fire hydrant. I don't know how much more violent you can get than that. I'm not condoning violence, I just think critics should be consistent.

Can't argue about people being consistent, especially when their job is critiquing other's work.

Haven't seen the Kill Bill movies, and I don't know why.  I've seen a little bit on cable, but haven't sat down with the movies from start to finish.

At least it looks like they aged HitGirl from 10 to 13.  Ten was way too young to be involved in this story.

Yeah, the movie is pretty violent. Probably just as graphic as the comic. The major difference is that the violence happens so fast in the movie, whereas in the comic, you can just sit there and gaze at the image until you want to look away. There is an awful lot of cussing from characters of all ages.
I think this is a movie that most critics blasted because it is not a "typical" comic book movie. The violence was over the top and graphic, but very much a surprise because it was done by a cute little girl. This movie will create a "cult type" following, which will make a sequel something the critics will praise, because it will be the popular thing to do.
