Jetta: Tales of the Toshigawa – Defiance
Optioned for Live Action Motion Picture
Memphis, TN: March 22, 2009

MAW Productions is proud to announce that Lizard Brain Productions is
developing a live-action adaptation of Defiance, vol. 1 in the popular
series of independently published graphic novels, Jetta: Tales of the
Toshigawa. Lizard Brain producer Zephyr Blue and filmmaker Bruce Williams
said, “the project is in the very early stages, and the excitement here
is palpable.” Williams promised “a high degree of faithfulness” to
the graphic novel, and adds, “We are thrilled to get Calvin Roberts, from
Ultraviolet and Star Wars fame, to work with us on the project.”
Jetta is the story of one woman with a life-changing destiny. Shianndrea
Toshigawa is the ‘Chosen One’, meant to lead the Toshigawa warriors
against the evil of her father, Terminus, and his organization, the Knave.
Death and destruction rain down over Japan as a war for control rages in
this tale. However, through the anger, terror, and blood…a savior is
born – whether she likes it or not.

Defiance is an 80-page graphic novel, bound with full-color cover and
black-and-white interior.
Creator, writer and illustrator: Martheus Wade

Congrats! That is great news for you and your studio. Unfortunately I haven't read any of the comics, only because I haven't seen them anywhere. I will have to find your booth in  san  diego and pick them up.

Kookey.
You have to buy their product directly from their website.
Then loan your copies out to others who've never seen it.
Then order more because you never see your copies again.
Then loan those out to never be seen again.
Then drag your heals on your intentions of buying a 3rd set.

Or you can just grab them from our site at toshigawa.com.
Blame diamond and the cuts that are going through the industry right now.

Thanks for the congrats guys. I'm looking forward to seeing what could come of this. Maybe Jetta and Shi would have a big screen crossover. lol. That would be insane!

Even if there is some reference to Shi in any way. Maybe a mock up movie billboard or something to get the talk started. Martheus, if I order from the site, is there anyway you could do a sketch on a cover for me?

Sure dude.
I usually add a small sketch somewhere in the book anyway. We have a deal on the site now where, if you buy any graphic novel, you get a free "pilot" issue of Jetta for free. The pilot issues are out of continuity issues of Jetta that we used to peak interest in the industry before we launched our graphic novels. There are not many of these issues left any longer. So you will be getting one of these as well.

Aww, shi....

Martheus is a great guy to do business with.  I had a problem with a pre-order for the Jetta/Shi cross-over, and whatever he did after I brought the issue to his attention got the problem solved.  I hope to see him on April 25/26 at a convention.
His sketches are nice.  I have a couple now, and couldn't be happier with the work.
So, in closing, let me congratulate him and offer my hopes that this movie progresses faster and further than most of the comic book movies that aren't done by DC or Marvel.

I'm just glad things got worked out after I put the crack whip on the deal. lol.
I'm with you. I hope that this moves along and comes out great in the end. Either way, we are proud of what an indy studio with a dream could accomplish. Thanks guys.
