Aww, shi....

Was curious what everyone's take is on Watchmen.  A local reviewer has me concerned as she stated that, after seeing the movie, that she doesn't know what it takes for a movie to get an NC-17 rating, but thought it would have been appropriate for this film.  She thought that the violence was over the top, and questioned all of the full frontal nudity of one of the characters.  Makes me a bit leery of taking my son to see it.  Any input?

I've never read any of the comics, so I'm not a fan in the least, but I do want to watch it. With all the hype the comic has, I hope it can live up to it. Just so that we as comic fans know that this movie genre is here to stay and there are more opportunities for independent comics(Shi) to be released in films.

It's definitely not a movie to take a child to, no way.  Overall, I did enjoy the film.  You didn't have to read the book in order to enjoy the film.  Some parts I wish were longer or put in, but overall I didn't feel too deprived watching it.  Didn't feel like I wasted $10.  Some of the pacing was a bit off, but overall it made for a good viewing experience.  It's a long film but didn't feel too long overall.

I just bought the "motion comic" DVD of the Watchmen. I plan on watching it sometime in the next couple days.
It also came with a coupon for $7.50 off my admission to the movie, also a digital download, which now is a must for me.
