http://atasteforthetheatrical.com/deathtrap/default.htmIt's the official trailer (non-bootleg copy) and it looks decent. Heath Ledger actually isn't half-bad as the Joker. For once, it's good to be proven wrong.

I am so looking forward to this movie. I don't let other peoples opinion affect whether I will see a movie or not. I don't care for critics at all. I thought, that just based on Ledger's past movies, he has the ability to do something different with this role. I may be one of few, but I didn't care for Nicholson's performance at all. I thought it was too campy. I didn't like the makeup either. I like that it seems this Joker is more phsycotic(sp?). I really like Bale as Batman. He is one of todays finest actors and I don't think he get's enough credit. Too bad he only gets real credit because of the box office receipts Batman brings.

I'm the same way, kikuchiyo. I don't care what critics say, just give me the unbiased synopsis and I'll make up my own mind whether or not to see it. Sometimes I'll go to a critically-panned movie to boost it's revenue (yeah, I'm petty like that! ). I remember when the first Spider-Man movie was coming out, when I was living in Jersey, the local "critics" were bashing it as too campy, pseudo-science and other high-brow remarks. Then when the movie broke box office records, those same critics started singing its praises. It was fun to watch. Back on topic, this movie does look interesting. I'm not a huge Batman fan, but I have liked some of the stories (Year One, DKR, Killing Joke, Long Halloween, etc.) and this movie seems like it may be on par with the last movie. It doesn't seem too over the top, just enough when you have a character like the Joker involved. Did you see Bale in "The Prestige"? That was an excellent movie! I think he's grossly underrated.

I don't know... it wasn't just Nicholson. I thought all the Bman movies until the last one were kind of campy. Didn't mean I enjoyed them less, just that I thought the last one was better quality. Glad to see they're continuing in that direction, though. I'm w/ you on critics, though. Some of my fav movies were hated by the critics. Guess that means I have poor taste. LOL

The movie looks ok i guess. I just worry about the story line. come on do we need to revisit how the joker became the joker again. i think there are so many other story lines they could visit. IMHO
do not get me wrong I will still go see it and add it to my dvd collection.

I like the first Batman movie out of pure nostalgia mostly. One of my aunts took me to see it and it sort of became "our thing" and she took me to the other Batman movies as well; except for the last one because I am now working and living 400 miles away from where she lives. I have it on DVD but I don't think I've watched it in years. Still enjoyable for what it was worth.
The third and fourth ones I despise. I got them on DVD (3rd) and VHS (4th) as gifts but I'm giving my brother the 3rd one and the 4th I'm tempted to toss because I can't get through more than 10 minutes of it before I have to take it out. The Adam West tv show had more depth than those two films. So the last one was a refreshing change of pace.
I agree with you, Sllamky, about not needing to revisit the Joker's origin again. If people want to know it, they can *gasp* go and READ! Then again, there isn't really a definitive origin for him. As was remarked in "The Killing Joke" by the Joker, "when I remember my past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!".
I'll see this one next summer, though without any of my non-comic friends. After they whined about "300" being "too violent", to save myself further aggrivation, I'll go and enjoy it in peace.

From what I read, they are not going into the origin of the Joker. I do like the darker look to it. I just wish they could have done one with a normal looking costume, as apposed to the motorcycle gear looking thing.

Cali says it looks "dark" and he thought Joker was Kilmer. Cali's fave was Kilmer as Batman.
Now, my Batman critic says that they need to do Joker's makeup better to make him look a lot more scarier and of course Batman has the best weapons and the bike is cool.
I have the other Batman's on dvd but wont let my son watch them, and he is dying to watch them due to some of the vulgar language. But, I do prefer the later version's of Batman, I like the dark mysterious background and like I said, would love to see Nightwing come into play. But then I am still holding out for Gambit to come into play on the Xmen flicks.

he thought Joker was Kilmer. Cali's fave was Kilmer as Batman He knows it's Heath, right?
We were talking earlier about critics favorites & dislikes. Val was in a movie that all the critics hated that is one of my favorite movies. The Saint. That movie was the reason I paid $1,200 for a Communicator 9000e cell phone.

It is just like Jason Strapman (Transporter) has a new one coming out Jan 11 or around there and it looks good. I will give my critic review of Sweeny Todd. Tj is not a huge Depp fan and dont care for Tim Burton films lol but since it is free he can't complain to much

Forward the link to my wife. She's dying to see it NOW. She agrees that the Joker reminds her of The Crow.

Well I'm gonna have to agree with Cali about Kilmer being the best Batman of the Burton/Schumacher era. I get tons and tons of people saying that Michael Keaton was the greatest Batman ever, sure he may've been good when he's in the suit but when you play a Superhero you also have to look the part of your Alter-Ego. But Michael Keaton was not a convincing Bruce Wayne. George Clooney well he makes Adam West look Phenominal.
All I gotta say is that Tim Burton has a one track mind... all his movies are the same. At least the Bale Batman series are not only going more with the continuity but they tend to make it more realsitlic and believeable.
