Im  a longtime man of steel fan.

And I must admit to having tons of impatience with the world's slowest moving story arc (a season and a half before we hear the names "Kal-el" and "Krypton") but I will confess to being a little bit more than choked up when they came in on Dr Swann's abode and the familar "Krypton" theme from the movies, courtesy of John Williams, and there was Chris Reeve, being a real life superman, transcending adversity, and when the music finally cascaded into the familar Superman theme from the Reeve era films right before the commercial break - it was almost too much!

I hope Chris Reeve's Dr Swann (a homage to Curt Swann who drew the comics for more than 40s years and is considered the definitive Superman artist) becomes a recurring character on the show.

I also loved the way that the extraterretsrial word that sparked tonight's  ep was translated as "Hope" --something we could all use a  little bit more of on certain days.

I admire his spirit a great deal.

I think it's a bit patronizing that we don't talk about how badly Superman III and IV sucked now that he's been injured (and how he hated the role, too), but man, he WAS Superman the first time out. That movie, particularly the DVD, was SO awesome.

And Williams soundtrack is among his most overlooked.

I guess what I admire about CR is that he hasn't given up. Let's face it, he's had every excuse to do so.

Delvie, I thought I did until I checked it this AM and it seems as if the airwaves were beset by gremlins and its a NG.  Sorry, old chap. :(

JC - yeah but CR did a good job as evil superdude acting wise in S3.  Just blot the rest of the film out of your mind and keep telling yourself "Its only a movie".

Yup Chris didnt give up - and neither should we - dammit!
