So far, the only complaint I have with your list is Sergio Aragones.  I spent 15 minutes or so talking with him at show years ago, he was very cordial, and he signed multiple items without any complaints.

I'd add Andy Lee to the super nice list.  The only jerky comic person I think I've ever met was Jim Steranko, and he was just full of himself.  Peter David was very particular about what he would sign when I met him, as he was in a battle with Marvel, so he wouldn't sign anything he did with them.

I met Greg Horn in Philly this past June, and he went out of his way for me, even giving me a signed Ms. Marvel print and a quick sketch for free! He even had me come around to his side of the table to get a picture with him!

I totally agree with your Ultra Nice list! Especially Billy and Mark! These guys couldn't be nicer, no matter how busy they get (and, BOY, do they get busy!), they have time for everybody! These are the first two artists that EVERYONE should seek out at a convention....PERIOD! rockon rockon

By the way Frank, what happened with Aragones, if you don't mind me asking! He's going to be at the National this year, and I was hoping to get a sketch from him!

MIKE CHOI
I thought Mike Choi was incredibly friendly when I met him. I was impressed w/ how he made each fan feel like the center of attention & you could see that he felt really bad when the editor of Top Cow ushered people on so he could do the next person's sketch. On the other hand, the editor was extremely nice to me & since mike was taking his time w/ my sketch & I was the last person, they gave me a Top Cow pass & had me sit behind the table w/ them even after the event throwers threw all the other con goers out of the building. I do have to add that someone looking over Mike's shoulder makes him very nervous. If he feels comfortable enough to ask you, he'll ask you to sit beside him as opposed to slightly behind/beside him. He kept apologizing while asking, saying he "felt rude for asking, but..."

SEAN SHAW. Slammy bought a bunch of art from Sean & commissioned a piece that was to be a bday present. The person's bday came in 5 months & Sean hadn't even started it but kept making excuses. So then, the piece was to be a xmas present & the same story. Finally, Slammy told Sean that he was going to go to Greece in March and absolutely needed it by then, because it was a gift for the guy who was instrumental in ensuring Slammy's trip to Greece. Sean promised again & March came & went w/ avoided emails. Eventually, Sean sent the item along w/ a message for me that the art commission that I had paid $250 for @ the same time as Slammy paid for his was out of state @ his old home & he hadn't been back since he moved to FL w/ his girlfriend. He said that he was going to go back for the midwest convention & get them & send them off. Convention came & went months ago & he has avoided replying to emails. It's getting close to a year & a half, I think.

Well occasionally I go to conventions with an old friend and he drives me to the city with him and back saving me lots of trouble so I usually help out getting his stacks of books and cards to sign.  So at the Big Apple April Con of 2005 I gave him a stack of my friend's Groo's  and in the mix there happen to be two copies of some book.  And all of a sudden he snaps at me and says "ARE YOU A DEALER" and i all i sed was my friend told me to get that signed for him.

Well BlackCatGuy, practically everyone knows the story of the "Greg Horn incident"
Frank and Greg have a love/hate thing going.
Frank loves to hate Greg.
but here are the quotes i dug up revealing the mystery of my hatred towards him.

Here is a look back at 2005 through the eyes of the Frankster.
June 3rd & 4th- The Wizard World Philly Con:
I finally get to meet Greg Horn and I always admired his work and even thought about buying his $40 book.  He signed my whole stack and agreed to make me a quickie sketch unless i donated to A.C.T.O.R. so i dontated $10 which i figured $5 for the stack & another for the sketch. I dint see the sketch until I was done and  I could not believe what the hell i saw when i handed me my book.

All I can say what the F$@% is this piece of $#!+.  And Greg wasnt pleased with my donation as well and I sed "dont worry I'll donate more tomorrow u have my word" me sayign that and not doing  was my way of telling him to go f$@$ himself.  Can u believe Greg Horn did this awful and I've seen great quickies.  This proves he's a phoney.

and also this at the NYC ComicCon
I also got my newest She-Hulk signed at the Marvel booht by Dan Slott and GREG  cuss -ing HORN  flamingmad And the worst part was he was bragging how much he liked his work.  :loser:I gave him Malocchia (evil eyes) the whole time.

Billy and Mark Sparacio are very nice (totally agree with you there)

Frank Cho is a lot of fun to meet as well.

Mike Wieringo was very polite to everyone who came up to him, he really enjoyed what he did - he truly will be missed.

I've met Jimmy Palmiotti 3 times and each time was enjoyable, he busted my chops a little bit but it was all in good fun, looking back, I kinda asked for it. Likewise Amanda Conner is fun to meet.

J.G. Jones is cool to meet, he did a commission of Green Lantern for me that is great.  He did tell us at his table a story in which he drew a sketch for someone who said it was for his sick girlfriend and then later J.G. found it on eBay.  That's why he cuts back on sketches and will charge now.  Leave it to some jerks to ruin it for the rest of us.

John Cassaday is very nice as well.  One year I must have waited around 3 hours to meet him - mainly because he took time with everyone who was in line, posed for pictures, did sketches.  Class act all around.

George Perez and Marv Wolfman are great guys to meet.  I got all my Crisis books signed by both, talking to each of them was fun, they answered my questions patiently.  I asked Mr. Wolfman if I could get a pic with them both.  He was happy to oblige.  I think Mr. Perez could see that I was nervous so to crack a joke he went, "Hey, everyone, here's our unknown third collaborator!". It made me laugh.

Both Romita's are class acts all the way.  I've met both on separate occasions. Romita, Sr. was happy whenever people talked about his son, he takes great pride in his son's work.

Frankster, I do agree with you about Larsen and Texiera.  One year I met both and asked for a quick sketch and I told them of what I wanted and they went "eh, I'll draw this instead".  Larsen only draws Savage Dragon (at least for me), he was nice in spite of that.  Tex, you sort of got the vibe we were wasting his time.  I like his art, but it wasn't something I look back on fondly.

If you ever meet David Lloyd, you'll have a great time.  Very laid back and friendly.

Amanda Conner is a total trip too! I literally waited in line for over three hours for a sketch! And all the while I had this sign that Amanda taped to my back stating that I was last in line! She even mentioned the wait in the sketch she drew for me!

And Frank, sorry to make you bring up those bad experiences! But thank you for sharing!

Nearly everyone I have met as both a fan and retailer have been really cool, with Billy and Mark being the top 2. I would add  Mike Norton, Jamal Igle, Don Kramer, Dave Peterson, Michael Turner, and Kevin Smith to your supercool to hang out with list . The only person I have ever had a bad experience with is Harlan Ellison. The man is a total ******** (asterix so as not to be sued).

Can't say that I have a lot of experience meeting these guys... generally I'm busy at my own table... But I'll reiterate that the impressive thing about Billy and Sparky is that if they don't remember your name... they don't try to fake it. They ask, straight up, "Hey... I'm sorry, I remember you from somewhere but forgot your name..." most creators will be like "hey... yeah... what's your name..." until you hand them money.

There's a lot to be said about guys being genuine. And there aren't many big shots I've met that are worth a poop.

similar to jwarner, I'm often busy at my fiance's table at a lot of the comic cons and don't get to line up for the bigger names.

I actually got to meet Billy (and Scott) at a comic con because I didn't have a table and it was a very quiet con.  Super ultra nice as everyone's already mentioned.  Special thanks to Scott for taking my photo and sending it to me!  It was a dream~!

Another notable really nice person (or people) was Fred Gallagher and, his now wife, Sarah from Megatokyo.com.  I didn't get to go to their autograph session or q&a as I was busy with my fiance's table and, apparently, they were such a huge hit that the con staff had to cut the line due to time constraints and fire hazard.  On the last day of the con, in the morning, they wandered the artist tables and stopped to chat at ours!
