Anybody Know where I can Find Comic Book Furniture????

Ok It's gotten to the point that I have so many comics it's taking over my room and office.  I have seen peopel who have actual furniture drawers to hold comics I have seen at convnetions and a fews stores in the past. Does anyone have anything that holds. I know Chris has a comic shop so he must know where to order from.  I'm willin to go as high as $200 (i dunno how much these things go for).  I prefer something that can hold more than 4,000 books. It would be most helpful to so please somebody let me know who to order from. The Frankster needs your help!!!

Frank.  I do not know about a piece of furniture that has drawers strong enough to hold the weight of comics. But here is an idea that might work for you. Buy a heave duty shelf.
The one I have is adjustable every inch.  And check out these boxes. I would stick to the short boxes. You will have an easier time finding a 18in deep shelf.

A friend of mine uses file cabinets to store his comics in (legal size, as opposed to standard size).  Each one can hold about 1200 or more comics.  It frees up some of the space occupied by boxes and provides more durable protection.

Thanks guys you pretty much helped me figure it out. I was looking into File Cabinets but Javery solved my problem on which ones to get. However Scott here solved my problem of Box stacking.  Thanks guys.

This gives me ideas for the store....we still have our hopes for it, but we are also thinking about starting up our own.

I'm actually going to be making some storage of my own for my garage which I will be making into a entertainment room. It will be a looooong project, but I am looking forward to it. I'm going to be making rolling storage couch-like benches for my comics and drawing stuff.

lmao....you don't want to see ours, it is horrific!!  Our closet has comic storage boxes in it (I have lost count on how many long and short boxes we have), We have paper boxes with comic books in them, about 3 or 4 and those are being added to as we speak) behind our bed's headrest there are pictures, posters, lithos in straight cardboard flats, we have maybe 30 or more tubes, and maybe another 20 or more in the closet.  I think the list goes on, tj has a better jist of where stuff is and trying to figure where it all goes. 

I know that is crazy and horrific and can drive a person insane but we work with what we got...lol...what else can ya do!

I've recently seen plans for building drawers underneath staircases. Most people's closet space under a stairway is unutilized. This person's plans have drawers underneath each step that pulls out.

I've also seen some pretty nifty bed designs w/ drawers that pull out.

I myself have a store poster display case that I am painting black & putting a Shi logo on. The bottom part that holds the posters will be gutted & used to store the Storage Binders dedicated to each Shi series or crossover.

The top part that would display posters will display some of my Shi art collection.

It varies. I usually use different sizes & colors for each series. Whenever possible, I make it a binder that has clear sleeves over the spine & cover so I can insert labels like these into the ends.





I'm still pushing to have Binders made for the diferent Shi series like the ones made for the Shi cards. Doubt it'll happen, though.

I should also point out that for my sketch covers I buy compatible 3 ring notebooks or card binders to store them in. For instance, here are a few that I store the Witchblade, Top Cow, Tomb Raider, Transformers, Batman sketch covers in.

Frank if you are thinking about getting the the drawer boxes. try to see if there is anyone selling them at a show. I have seen them at some of the biger shows in the past. getting them in the mail will cost you a lot in shipping

For those who don't know, I should probably point out that I don't punch 3 holes in the comics to store them. Ultra Pro sells a 3-Hole Comic Page w/ a resealable flap closure.

They have 2 kinds. Clear on both sides & one sided clear w/ the back being black.
