Billy, I do believe...YOU NAILED IT! Those images are awesome! I am truly looking forward to this series. When I was younger, my older brother(by 15 yrs) collected a lot of comics. So I was privy to be able to read such classic stories from Easy Co.. Also read a lot of Jonah Hex, Unknown Soldier and of course my favorite of all time, Conan. He used to have all these little digests that would contain maybe 20 issues that ran in order, so it made it all the easier to follow the unit. With your enthusiasm and your seemingly vast knowledge of war history, this ought to be an Eisner award series for you. Please Billy, put all your heart and soul into this and give the whole comic book world, no, wait, the whole literary world a taste of the talent and passion that you bring to us, your loyal followers. I wish you all the best with this series. Just like that old beer commercial said, "I love you man!".

Good interview, JC.
Billy, I doubt I have to cheer you on in the face of naysayers (sp?) that doubt your ability to do an all male cast. You're pretty detirmined & confident enough to do it. Personally, I'm hoping that Sgt Rock will eventually lead to other things that may have a mostly male cast. I've always hoped that one day, somebody would illustrate the tales of Sohei & the events that led to their rise in power & the corruption & pride that led to their feuding & demise. The battles of the feuding sects, etc. It would likely be more of an artistic endeavor than a commercial one as I don't really know how large interest would be in it.
Anyway, can't wait to see the results for your passion & hard work for this. If I can contribute in any way, let me know.

I will admit that I'm not usually one for war stories, (though this does not mean I disrespect those who have served/are serving) but there's such a sense of honour and passion coming out of Billy's responses that I'm keen to pick up the series. Either I'm out of the loop or something but I think those who really paid attention to the Shi comics won't see this as a surprise. Anyway, great interview Billy and JC!

This is looking more and more like a story that I'm going to have to have, not just because Billy's doing the work, but because it looks so dang good!

the only problem I have is 8 months of not drawing women. come on there were women in war. (nurses) and where is the medic. you know that more Metal of Honor winners were Medics than any other feild.
