READY TO KICK SOME ASS

« on: Thu, July 19, 2007, 18:24:02 »

What a slow week here in the land of Crusade.

In the 3 years that I have been coming to this site I can not remember another week that was as slow as this past week has been.

I Wish I understood what has kept all of my friends so quiet.

When  I asked another  member why he thought it was so dead he felt that maybe it was due to the lack of a Good Shi story to talk about.

Well I thought about that for a while.

And I thought  well maybe he was right.  But then I was thinking wait there have been a number of Shi crossovers that have come out over the last year or so.  And the more I thought about it. I realized, We as a group have not really reviewed these crossovers. Yes we all have voiced our feelings about the number of covers that have come out but what about the content?

My question fellow Crusaders is has any one read any of the crossovers?
What did you think?
Lets talk about it!

Who want's to start

I do crossovers for fun but never take them seriously enough to think them part of the continuity.  I'm so sorry I let you guys down by not having a new Shi series out.  It's been a rough two years but that's no excuse I really should have had one out.  I will next year I promise.  I do have great news concerning my newest project.  It's very high profile and will be just great for the new Shi series.

Great news Billy.  As for me not posting this week, well, after getting back from a week in the woods, my son has occupied the computer most nights for several hours at a time.  The new job is finally starting to require me to do some work, and it is all I can do to make it to 10pm most nights.  As for the cross-overs, I loved "Deady", and am withholding judgement on Lady Death until I read more.

Baltimore!  As for Shi, I've a meeting with Virgin who want to publish Shi and work with Mimi on the film rights.  I'm having dinner with the Sharad Davarajan on Thursday.  They want one graphic novel (at least 64 pages), but I'll fill you guys in when I see you.  The deal they sent wasn't a very good one, but one that could be worked out. I'm also meeting Mike Richardson Friday morning.

Good news indeed! Now with Virgin, being that they are new to comic publishing, will they allow you more creative control over everything, or are there restrictions or guidlines that will affect the story that you want to tell?

Oh and as for the why I have been MIA or slow to respond to people lately, we are moving our shop this week and hopefully I will be ready this Wednesday the new store while closing the old one on the 27th. Tonight they are shutting down our entire downtown for Harry Potter, so I will not be able to move things the whole block away that we are moving due to too many people out and about. And had I known Diamond was shipping the book to us on Wednesday, I could have made a mint selling it earlier than the two bookstores down the street, since I did not have a do not sell until condition on my order form.

Man if I had some H.P. books in hand I would be out side on the street selling them to people in line at  an inflated price.

The Deady storyline is only 2 pages. Trust me. I kept looking all over the book to see if maybe the rest was misplaced. I was like "Come on! You gotta give me more than that!" Even still, those 2 pages were the best crossover to come out for a long time.

Lickie has decided she's not getting the HP book til she sees the movie. She didn't read the 1st 4 books & enjoyed the movies. She did read Order of the Phoenix, however, & it ruined the movie experience for her.

I enjoyed the movie but hated the directors choices. There are a LOT of things missing. Key parts. Like:
SPOILER ALERT: If you want to see, highlight below text - if not, leave alone.

one minute, only Luna & Harry can see the invisible horses & the next, the whole gang is riding thru london on them @ night w/ no explaination. How'd they get on horses they can't see? How'd they get used to riding them?

I understand that the book was over 800pgs long, but this movie was more like an overview of the book. They took the longest Harry Potter book and turned it into the shortest Harry Potter film. I hope this is this director's last shot @ Harry Potter.

I agree it is a cool pic but seeing her face will be even better!!  It will defiently be a good laugh for the night!  I would take her the B & N party but I am not lugging 2 sleepy boys and I have no desire to sit there until it is done with the boys either.

I love her to death but there is a limit!

The pic I've had on my laptop forever. Well, since the 2nd movie came out.

The vids? I'm a vidder. I collect music vids made by fans using their fav songs & scenes from various tv shows or movies. They are called vidding & the makers or watchers are called vidders.

Emo? I thought some chica told me, but I don't seem to see Alida & emo in the search engine, so perhaps they said emu. Are you sprouting feathers?  eyebrow3

You'll enjoy the movie as long as you don't mind parts of the book missing.

Have a good weekend. ;)

Didn't get home until after 2am because of the stinking Potter story.  It had better be worth it.  My wife pre-ordered it.  We got to Borders around 8pm for the "fun" and found out that we werer #794.  I know that they went over 1100.  Of course, the guy who was willing to wait a day or two to pick up the book, had spent all day at work at his desk reading technical articles about drug delivery systems was the one who finally got in line when it was time to actually get our hands on the book, then I had to drive home along an interstate highway that is torn up and in repair/replacement for several miles.  And I won't even see the book for a few more days as my son devours it first.

Potter Fest was completely mental for us. We sold out of nearly everything we brought down within minutes(wands, quills, feathers, magic word stones, cauldrons, dragon glitter necklaces and more) and kept having to find more stuff to sell. Dollar wise we had an entire month's worth of sales within those 8 hours. We were stuck here until 1130 when everyone started lining up at the bookstores and library. I went this morning and grabbed my wife the copy she reserved and there was no line which was nice. They estimated the crowd here last night at about 30,000. We had to open the comic portion of the new shop, since a bunch of people were asking where it moved to. I have already picked up 10 new regulars as of last night and we do not officially open until the 1st of August, so things are looking up for the new place even before it opens.
