Hello all, I do not know how many of you have noticed but out website for this month has yet to be updated. That is for several reasons but the main one is something that was just confirmed to us today. Our lease has been bought out and we are leaving our current location on July 31st. We will be moving down the street, into a first floor location, inside of my in-laws Antique Mall. I am hoping that this will get us greater visibility and of course sales. The comic shop may close for good in February of 2008 as I am planning on moving down to Louisville to train with Ohio Valley Wrestling starting the first week of March 2008. Depending on my wife's schedule (she is going back for her doctorate in Nov. 2008) the shop may continue on, since I expect to finish my training by July 2008 and then I will know if I am being picked up for the roster or if I am cut. So at least for the next couple of months I will be able to continue supplying everyone with comics.

Ohio Valley Wrestling, huh? That puts you right in my neck of the woods. Work sends me to Louisville about 4 times a year these days, so I may swing by and see how things are going.
Sorry to hear that the shop may be closing in the near future, but moving to a more visible locale is a good thing, and may make all the difference. Good luck!!

I will run the shop from down there probably through July of 2008. At that time if I get signed, the whole family will move down there with me and we may run the shop from there , but it probably would be online only as the overhead on top of trying to have my wife going through her doctorate program would be time prohibitive to open another physical location. Best case scenario, I become a huge success in wrestling and I am able to hire a bunch of people to run the shop in Chicago with a prime location and I just come in to check on things when I am off the road. Worse case scenario, I do not get signed and I come back home and run the shop out of the antique shop until I build business up to the level of getting my own place again. But my intention is to keep the shop going.

These days, online is just as good, if not in some cases better than, a physical location. I've recently had that argument in regards to a bookstore my wife and I are planning to open next year (although we're taking the not-online approach, because trying to eke out used book sales online against Amazon, eBay, and others seems silly to us). There's so few players in the online comic market that an online presence could definitely work... especially since you already have the customer base.
The benefit of being able to run an online business from anywhere doesn't hurt either.
