Any interest in seeing 300?  I saw a sneak preview last night, and strongly suggest that if you have any interest, you need to see this movie.  Beautifully done, very interesting subject, well acted.  Keep the kiddies away - lots of graphic violence and a few topless woman scenes, and one full backside male nude.

Yes. 300 was also shot in IMAX, so when I get home, Lickie & I are going up to King Of Prussia, PA to watch it on their IMAX screen. If you are near an IMAX that is playing it, I highly recommend taking advantage of the opportunity to see it.

This is now at the top, if not THE top, movie on my list of favorites.  Truely a man's movie.  Take the little women to this one so they know what kind of movie you like to see!

When I see the rating "R", this is the kind of movie I expect to see! Now I'll have to wait for it to come out on DVD, so I can see it a dozen more times.

It's funny when you watch things on IMAX, It's the nurse in me, but I pick up on all kinds of little things.

My favorite for this one, every Spartan over 35 had small pox vacinations. LOL

They should be like mountains on the IMAX!

You don't need IMAX to see the vaccine marks.  I really noticed it on the Arcadian leader's arm. And Dawn, you are really right about the noe-liners!  There were several times that the audience laughed at the remarks being tossed around by the characters.
The comic shop I frequent gets all sorts of passes for sneak previews.  Some of the other movies they've got me in to see for free were "Music and Lyrics", "Hollywoodland", and "V for Vendetta".

We have gone to sneek peeks but through the radio station I listen to.  This was the first time through our Comic Dealer!  But then when you have been with him for as long as he has been open does pay off at times.  He held one pass for us.

I can't believe how badly the movie is getting trashed by the critics here in St. Lou!  It was a fun piece of escapism, and it has some historical reality.   I'm going to watch the History Channel tomorrow and get their view of what happened.

I guess being #1 in the box office and earning $70 million in box office receipts should show that critics don't always like what the public does.

This is a statement that may or may not be true. What someone wants to see because of an interest and what they actually like are two different things. I, myself, bothed had an interest and liked(actually loved) the movie. But how many times have you spent money on a movie that after watching it, you were upset that you paid money for? I've done that many times. I don't care what critics say, they are not in my mind to tell me what I may or may not like. I generally go to a movie because I am interested in the subject matter or just like to watch certain actors in movies.
How many tickets sold should be how a movie is rated as far a success goes. I know they have a budget to make up for, but since tickets are generally $10 a pop, was the movie actually watched by more people than other box office hits from the past? onsoapbox

Because -

when you placed the [ quote ] & [ /quote ], you somehow put what you were quoting in between the [ & the /quote].
If you go back & modify it, you can move the [ from before I & add it to /quote] & it will work.

If anybody is interested & not doing anything -
@ 8pm & Midnightn the HISTORY CHANNEL is playing
"  Last Stand of The 300 " :
Creating a fresh visual style and using new technologies we will dramatically recreate the significant events that lead to Thermopylae and the clash of arms.
