Whiskey Dickel, International Cowgirl, which ought to be coming out from Image this year, is based on the winning entry in the 2000 Klasky Csupo (Rugrats, Wild Thornberries, Duckman) screenwriting competition.

It's written by my buddy Mark Ricketts, who previously hit us with the superb crime comic Nowheresville (presently available from Image as a tres cool trade paperback).

And it's drawn by Mike Hawthorne, who I believe has done some Grendel work unless I'm wrong (and, you know, I'm not).

Here's a to a short sample story:
http://www.ape-law.com/thinktank/whiskeysample.html

At any rate, Jill Thompson, Mark Wheatley, Bendis, Mack, and so many other talented creators have contributed to it... some are doing pin-ups, others are writing short pieces to go with the pin-ups. I'm one of the writers. How cool is that?

So, other than the JCV Publishing sign atop a building in Times Square in Nowheresville, this will be my first appearance stuff Image book.  At least that I can remember.

So JCV,
Does Mark Ricketts have any plans of doing a release party/autographing session at Fort Worth's new 'Cowgirl Museum'?
Maybe he ought to think about that...

The Cowgirl Museum is really cool.  Beth and I took my 8 year old niece just a few weeks ago.
The concept of the museum is to celebrate the 'Cowgirl Spirit'.  So there are lots of women covered there that are not actual cowgirls, but could have been.

I'm workin' on it.  However, I'm not sure those fancy museum folks will cotton to a goatroper such as myself.

Welcome Mark!
I've heard GREAT things about "Nowheresville"  and will pick up a copy.  The  "Whiskey Dickel" art looks terrific.  I do believe you've got yourself a winner there!

Here's some fun news... well, for me: I'm now editing Whiskey Dickel, International Cowgirl!

And by editing, I pretty much just mean proof reading.

But it's still cool.

You could have chosen another post, so for everyone who's been a part of this one, thanks for reading this post.

I was just looking at the sample comic for Whiskey Dickel, and its really really good... Very Sam and Maxish (Which for once, isnt a bad thing, but quite the opposite, its really really good)

*Sigh* I miss Sam and Max  :'(

Did you ever get the trade paperback collection of Sam & Max material? It included not only the Fishwrap, Comico & Epic issues, it had the pieces Steve Purcell did for the Lucasfilm newsletter.

I was reading it last night. How funny that it comes up here!  :o

BTW, I did my proofing duties on Whiskey Dickell and Mark informs me that it's off to Image.

Yay!

Howdy folks!  My Hellboy: Weird Tales story came out today.  It's only 6 pages, but the art is beautiful. And I love the textures that the colorist brought to the piece. I'm a pretty happy guy.
