Hey all, Well Billy giving everyone a look at his pitch has inspired me to put a rough outline of the story that I am in the process of writing and editing up. I am not sure what format I am going to try to publish it in, but the current way it is written lends itself to comic books or tv with scene descriptions and fades. This is only a rough outline and some elements may change as I finish up writing it. This is the story I started on about 2 months ago and at the rate I am going it should be done completely(including editing and rewrites) by the end of November. And now onto the rough outline.
Story Outline: Our MC is not named and will not be named until near the end of the story, reasons for this will become apparent. Story is given piecemeal as to what his letter says, what he used to do , and who exactly he works/worked for. Contact between him and his family; will be shown via videoscreen on the numerous cell phones he picks up. He is using a secure channel so that neither of them can be traced. So now here is what exactly the story is about including spoiling all of the surprises.
Our Mc works for the NSA. His job is to eliminate threats to security by any means necessary. His resignation to number 6 is not a resignation at all. It sets the stage for the rest of the story. He is part of a group codenamed The Carver. The Carver operatives were working on the assassination of 3 world leaders in succession in order to foster a war in the Middle East which would allow the US to move in and stabilize; the area. It is implied that his letter and reason for leaving are his distaste for such a program. There is dissent within the group has lead to the point at which we meet our Mc. He will be traced and followed by the Carver operatives and several times it will appear he has no way out only to be saved at the last minute. He will meet a few allies along the way or normal people who will help him out. One of these allies is an officer that arrests him as a fugitive, but when they are cornered releases him with the words I think were going to have a thundershower At this point he escapes but the officer is killed. This is the crescendo which will lead to the big reveal. By this time the tech people in the Carver unit (8 operatives) have traced the whereabouts of his family; The communications between him and hiswife and son have been brief snippets where he promises to see them soon. The operatives call him on his secure phone and show the house at which his family is in. You can see the word Snider on the mailbox. The call him Patrick and tell him that he needs to meet them at the house or they will just go in without him. He begs for them not to go in and pleads that he will meet them but not there. They give him 10 seconds to agree to meet there or they will storm the house. He continues to beg and finally time runs out. All 8 ops crash through the house and scan the rooms. Mc makes one final call, his wife answers and he says Goodbye, Hun, I will miss you . Ops arrive in the room right as the wife is hanging up and they see that it is a robot. The boy robot is also in the room as well as about 5 tons of explosives. The click of the phone ignites and everyone is blown to pieces. Mc makes another call , shown on split screen is 6This is 2 Operation DELVIE is a success. Im on my way home Fade Out . Further Information not necessarily obvious from the story. This entire story is set to take place within the span of 2 to 3 days at most. At all times our Mc is in complete control of the situation around him. He is being tipped off by 6 as to when and where the Carver Ops are. All near misses of capture and killing are staged, to allow the Carver Ops to fully believe that Mc has gone AWOL. This illusion is paramount since he ranks higher than all of them. The phrases and choices of word arrangements are code. Especially when Mc interacts with any apparently normal people. Some of them are Ops in the DELVIE program relaying information back between him and 6. The officer is killed so he will not be captured and reveal this info. The DELVIE program was formed by 2 and 6 when it became obvious that the others in the Carver unit were a liability since they could not agree on which leaders to assassinate. As can be inferred by their numbers 2 ranks higher than 6 and just because there is a number 2 does not mean that there must be a number 1 (Tip of the hat to the Prisoner). The man 6 is on the phone at the very beginning is 2. The letter simply says this D.E.L.V.I.E. (We will get a glimpse of this several times during the story but do not understand the meaning until the end. The reason for the multiple mobile phones is only one has a secure channel. The others are slightly encrypted to guarantee with a little time they can be traced.
And now the legal stuff: All Names, Descriptions, Characters and Ideas are Trademark and Copyright 2006 Calliope's Realm Productions.

The names used are too far-fetched to be real.

Actually I am using it them the same way the Ian Fleming did. I slightly change an actual government project name and adapt it. I thought the part with the Delvie operation being the one blowing up the Carver operation was quite close to real life.

LOL. I like it. I am currently watching Ocean's 12 for what Lickie claims is the 30-something-eth time, but I'm sure it's only around 16 or 17 & it's setting a scene nicely. LOL

I forgot my mother was coming in tonight. She's going to Belgium with me this weekend. I've had to move a bed into the spare room for her (too much to explain) but will get back to your questions Delvie tomorrow at lunch. The same goes for Joe's book. I've got to do the cover to Heroes For Hire #7 tomorrow and the cover to the Overstreet Price Guide. Sparky's doing one (New Avengers I think) and I'm doing Supergirl! Will post them up tomorrow evening. Cheers!

I don't think the names are cliched at all Joe -- (unless of course, you want to exchange Snider for Tucci!). It's still very rough but a good, good start. Break it down into four paragraphs:
history/what they do (ie. their job/mission) Mc's escape the attack on his home the reveal that Mc is in control of it all and his true plans (or at least his vow) to go against the agency

Thanks for the advice Billy, It is still in a very rough stage, I just completed rewriting the first two scenes and hope to have it polished and ready to go by the end of November.
