Personally, I'm happy that there aren't many American movies using the Naginata. So far it has remained off the radar of child wanna be idiots around the world.
It gets frustrating seeing how many people get sold crap & told they own a sword. For every thousand people who think they have a sword on the wall, there might actually be 1. If you own what was sold as the Shi sword, you don't own a sword; if you own what is called a naginata in the store, you own a decorative wallhanger. Us collectors & practitioners call them "Sword-like Objects" or "SLO".
Another thing is the number of kids (or even people as old as 20yrs old) who comes along on the sword forums boasting that they study or are an expert in some long lost ryu that they don't realize was made up for their favorite anime. Atleast once a week we meet a new expert @ a style that never existed.
Right now, the nag is something that almost only true martial arts enthusiasts study. I am sure once the Shi movie comes out, there will be all kinds of untrained experts all over the place being sold junk that resembles a naginata.
i have the Shi set and naginata and tj has another katana sword but what he wanted was a Damascus sword but now he tells me he found a better one and that is what he is going to get.
