Well only Dawn could actually confirm one being used in a film and a comedy western at that. The rest of you think, or thought, or maybe thought you saw one in Hero, Crouching Tiger, etc. It apparently did not make a lasting impression on anyone or otherwise you could confirm outright.

Fascinating information though because it proves that even if it was used in a film, the weapon only appears briefly. I guess it has not found its fame in a movie yet. It will be up to Shi to change history. Right now, for a weapon, it has only been a supporting prop, whereas in the Shi film it would have a starring role as the featured weapon.........

In the fight scene in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon I remember Michelle Yeoh using various swords, a spear, those two metal hook like devices that looked like crowbars. I just don't remember a Naginata being used in the film.

There was Naginata Nights, a brawly film about iron monkey and his pet chimp.  Just kidding...

It could have been the Fast and the Furious and a ticked off Naginata.......which probably will be the sequel to the last one.

Most any film/TV show involving the Kamakura era will have most of the foot soldiers armed with naginata (not that there are that many-"Gates Of Hell" and "Yoshitsune" being two). In Mifune's "Abare Goemon", he uses a naginata almost exclusively. There was pretty cool naginata work in some "Lone Wolf" film episodes and some yari work in "Hidden Fortress" with Mifune. One Lone Wolf movie I recall is where Itto uses one is "Baby Cart at the River Styx". The naginata appeared in several episodes of 'Komyo Ga Tsuji'. Lots of the old silent Japanese films ( such as "Yajikita Zenkoujimiril" (( dated around 1920))  ) have them.

Lots of Anime have naginata. In "Pita Ten", Hiroshi Mitarai's overzealous sister Kaoru repeatedly attacks people with a naginata.

So basically foreign films, some Japanese films feature the Naginata. They have never had an American martial art production that featured the Naginata as a primary weapon for a primary character in a film. Is that correct?

I don't hunt boars! Now if you think it is boring I could not buy into that since the motorcycle has been around forever and yet you act like without it the character of Shi is lost.

I was merely pointing out that both material objects would be unique in the American made movie of Shi and it would be.

The main thing against your arguement is that Billy drew Shi with Ana using the naginata, but has never drawn her driving around town in the Carver.  Many of us are getting tired of the Carver argument. Please let it go, man.

as I stated I think the trike is cool. The issue that is boring. is your ranting on and on about the same thing. I stopped reading the thread on the carver to get away from your rants about it. but no you have to pollute more threads with the same garbage talk.

Delvie is the last person to post on the Carver thread and I want it that way. I love reading all those justifications for his remarks and also about his mind reading capability.

I have not flaunted the Carver on this thread. I was merely making a point about the naginata being unique in a American made movie and compared it to the Carver. My thread here is about the Naginata, but you all go ape over the mention of the Carver which is hilarious.

If an inanimate object is so terrifying for you, simply ignore this thread and go back to the Shi Quiz or whatever tickles your fancy.
