So I returned from Baltimore today to a flood of new customers. It appears that a retailer in the area told his customers last week that he was going out of business and recommended my shop over the 9 in the area run by the largest retailer in the midwest. The only problem is since he did not give his people notice they all will need the books that they special ordered to be filled by my shop now. This could be a logistical nightmare if some of the titles are not available for reorder. A lot of his customers collect obscure indy books that I do not normally carry so this could turn into a situation of not being able to keep them on as customers since I can not get them books for 2 months. Hopefully my discount program and the fact that we are a small family run shop will help us form new relationships with all of his customers.

Yep, good problem to have.  If you treat them half as nice as you've been to us on the board, I think that you'll have no problem keeping most of them as customers.

Hey, even if you keep a small percentage of them, its a good thing. Good luck to you.

Thanks.
The only problem I have had so far is that he sprung this on them last minute and I am now having to backorder books that I may not be able to get.

Oh and one other thing I forgot.
I talked to one of the writer's for Wizard and within the next month or so I will be featured in their Retailer Buzz section of the website. The article comes out once a week and discusses the best selling books and back issues. I will post a link to the article that I am in.
