Gilliam's work is Quixotic in nature and a great artist. Pity he won't be able to realize his vision...again.

There was a FANTASTIC interview with Mr.G on NPR the other day.
I only got to hear part of it, but it has certainly made me want to see the documentary.
This movie sounds like a trainwreck caught in slow-motion.  Sad and oddly beautiful in it's carnage.

I guess I'm stupid, because I want to tackle this Quiote theme with "Burning Blue."

It's my favorite book and he's my favorite character of all time.

The problem wasn't the original story, William. It was the script and the screen story. Can you imagine getting a feature going and then walking away? It must have been really screwed up!

The fates were evidently against the film as not only did Mr. Murphy (he of the disastrous law) run amuck with the weather but Gilliam's lead actor, playing Don, had major medical problems which no one was aware of before shoting started.

He didnt have a backup lined up so hence....pffft.

And insurance companies at that level of expense would rather shut it all down and wait to start again - more profit for them at the expense of art.

It's amazing that films like "Brainstorm" which suffered the loss of Natalie Wood were allowed to finish after a major royale with the insurance companies.

What a shame.  I did see parts of "Lost..." There was one scene where NATO figher jets kept on doing flybys.  I would asume they were part of the Spanish Air Force and did fly overs all the time in that area.  Poor luck and even poorer planning?
