Okay, so Sci Fi Channel just re-ran the first five epsiodes of Season 2 last night, basically marking the first quarter of the season.

Are you watching it? What do you think so far?

First, I'm amazed that in a world of actors with huge egos and powerful agents that we could even end up in a situation with Adama barely present in that many episodes. I would guess that Edward James Olmos really likes where the show is headed and knows he's getting some juicy parts ahead.

Two, I think the show is doing a great job of showing how Baltar could get crazy enough to side with the Cylons. That's something, thematically, that the original series never did and has always intrigued me.

Three, the biggest thing they've done -- I always wondered about what happened back in the Colonies to the people who got left behind for lack of ships, bad timing, or whatever. Yeah, we knew the Cylons killed them, but what happened? Nice to see this snapshot on Caprica.

Fourth, while I feel SG-1 has thus far slumped significantly, it's only stumbled to the point of being the second best sci fi show on TV at the moment and it's still infinitely better than Star Trek has been in years. As a fan, I think that it's extremely cool to have three shows that I would actually care to watch in one evening.

What do you think?

Myself, I only watch Gallactica lightly for Tricia Helfer & her character Six & the drama she creates w/ Baltar. I agree w/ the much needed character building that this series has taken on as opposed to the previous attempt.

I will always be a die hard SG1 fan (even if it really starts to suck probably) & hope they can milk it for a few more seasons. I was very skeptical of Ben & Claudia being added this season & was afraid tat Scifi writers would have them too typecast from Farscape, but I was wrong & love the additions.

I like the Atlantis Series but feel they could use some improvements.

I wish they could have saved Andromeda from crappy writers, because it had promising potential.

I wish Tripping the Rift was still on Fridays nights. I don't know why, but in spite of it being animated, I laugh my ass off @ that show.

Although, I can't say I'm a big fan of BG, I agree w/ you that it is nice to have a Friday night line up like scifi does. It makes the option of not partying all night on Fridays a pleasant one w/ alternatives.

You know, I don't really like her trashed out version on the show nearly as much as real life. She is just beautiful in person.

The one thing I'm not ever sketptical about on the writers on that show. Even though they've had a few duds, they've more than earned the benefit of the doubt.

Hope you know I wasn't putting SG-1 down to say I think BG is better at the moment.

It's a little closer to an average sci fi series than I would like, but they're trying and often they succeed. It's certainly the weakest of the 3 shows, BUT it's not that weak. Almost always enjoyable.

Well, it wouldn't be fun if we agreed on everything.  :o
Just like most "Roddenberry" crap that's turned up since his death (or, say, since the first episode of ST-TNG), it's just awful, cliched, predictible and so poorly written that I can't imagine that people have said the lines aloud prior to the actors getting on camera. And I gather Kevin Sorbo has sort of taken over the show? Brilliant. Not everyone is Maguyver.

Well, I hope it will help them expand to another night of original drama programming... not the "reality" stuff.

That's the really cool factor, IMO. Rosina and I don't get a lot of time together, but it's really nice that if we stay in we can just unwind and watch a night of TV we both enjoy. For some folks I'm sure that's a waste, but we hardly get to see each other, so it's a really nice thing for us.

I'm a fan of trashy. I like em classy one day & trashy the next & back again. Some people do trashy better than others. I think she's found her niche. LOL. (Although, I'm sure she can do classy equally well)
I agree w/ the writing for SG1. I love the twist of an Asgard w/ an attitude working on the Prometheus. I hope they are more involved in the stories this year. & nope, I didn't get that you were dissing SG1. & also, nope, we agree that the writing for Andromeda sucked. However, it sucked
(IMHO) far more before Sorbo took over. That's why he almost left. He saw potential & that it was being wrecked & either wanted to engineer it to be better or get out. Sadly, I don't think he improved it much. But hey... atleast he gave a bang up shot of scooping water out of the sinking ship before it went all the way under. LOL. There really aren't many scifi (space related scifi, anyway) shows out there. The absence of sucky scifi is worse (to me) than the absence of scifi period, so I latch onto any scifi w/ decent special effects that I can find. Unless it's Lexx. LOL. But then again, if I could take all head's one liners & put them in a half hour or hour tape, that would be kind of amusing to watch.
aannh. I think Tripping would need to be expanded to a full hour to give another night any potential. It's not likely to happen. But yah, scifi's reality shows are like the bottom of the barrel for ideas for reality shows. Not that there are any trophy winners for reality shows. Is GOING TRIBAL considered a documentary or a reality show? I watched that last night & loved it.

Nah. a quiet evening @ home w/ your significant is well deserved & not a waste. Lickie is not much of a socialite. Her Friday's of scifi are precious to her. Besides, I can party any night of the week when I'm home. So Fridays are "our" tv night while Tuesdays are "my" tv night. What sucks is "my" tv night only comes once a month, because it is the science channel's Cosmic Tuesdays & when I am on the road, most hotels don't have the science channel. So I have her record it for 3 weeks & I do nothing all day the tuesday I am home but watch 12hrs of space documentaries. LOL.

The Season 3(?) premiere of Battlestar is starting tonight. If anybody is a fan of Battlestar Galactica & is interested in the disc of the hour long "The Story So Far..." episode that has played several times recently, it is being handed out for free @ most comic stores.
