GREMLIN EFFECT

by
William Tucci

On England's southern coast rests the tiny, enchanted ISLE OF WIGHT. With its rolling hills of green, thick vine-shrouded woods and multicolored pastel-like cliffs, it is the very essence of a magical and ancient faerie world.

But with the coming of a summer dawn is danger. Danger in the form of mechanical wings on hurricane-like gales that invade the peacefully perfect meadow overlooking the English Channel and the jutting Needles rock formations.

It is MANKIND. Or to be more specific, human warriors and their flying machines.

And we've never seen anything like these aircraft before. Drab oily contraptions whose engines THUNDER while belching out choking black plums of SMOKE and FIRE that spew white fluids that pour down poisoning the meadow and its underground inhabitants…

GREMLINS.

Whose very existence is now endangered by this dreadful arrival of Man and Machine. Now these mischievous spirits of tools and machinery, still upset with Mankind for taking credit for all their advances in science, will devote all their time and talents scourging the invaders into fleeing this cursed meadow and their ancient island forever.

But do to the lack of gremlinpower in this tiny shire, volunteers are needed, one of which is ROO-BOY ROBBINS, a teenaged, Mohawk sporting, feather-surfing rebel.

Standing no more than thee inches tall, and outcast for being a non-conformist, Roo has something to prove to the stern GOVERNOR MOTTISTONE who knows that "this daydreaming slacker" has eyes for his only daughter, TOOTS. With bright eyes and long hair that lushly drapes down her back, Toots is the female gremlin (a fifinella) equivalent to Vivian Leigh. We will learn that over the course of the film, the term "spitfire" easily applies to this feisty lass.

Also on hand is COMMANDER RINGS, a strapping veteran whose legendary exploits of "gremlintrix" will "insert a wrench into the gears of Humankind's War Machine."

Utilizing blue prints and a gleaming, gremlin-sized replica of the invader's fighter, Rings will teach the squadron to master the aircraft's flying abilities and more importantly plague Man where he is most vulnerable.

IN THE AIR.

What follows is hysterical series of events that catapult these wee-pilots five miles high over a dark blue world filled with whirling, warring aircraft. For they soon discover that invaders themselves are locked in battle against the overwhelming numbers of marauding, menacing-looking machines of the faceless HUNS.

But war is man's business and further proof that he is nothing more than the bane of the world's existence. But we will also witness the battle through human eyes as Sergeant Pilot JORDIE ADLAM whom along with radar-operator ANNE, desperately try to find love and salvation while flying, falling and fighting again.

Roo's reluctant gremlintrix make him a hero among his peers but also almost cost Jordie's life. Now the guilt-ridden daredevil must choose between his new found fame and adulation or the right thing to do.

And after witnessing this twenty year-old "Fighter Boy's" bravery and determination against insurmountable odds, Roo-Boy realizes these "invaders" are actually there to defend Wight. For the very fate of the world is at stake and the gremlins are unknowingly assisting the forces of Evil.

But it might be too late, because there in the moonlight, falls something much more sinister than the Hun's flying Destroyers…

GOBLINS.

That's right, monstrous goblin paratroops set on sabotaging the Isle's defenses and clearing the way for the imminent invasion by their Human Masters.

But after the loss of Rings and the meadow's destruction, Roo-Boy must now find a way to rally his beleaguered gremlins against these hulking creatures of hammer and hatchet.

But by ingenuity, otherworld contraptions, and even the gremlin-sized fighter plane, he and Jordie will heroically fly with giants, forge a compassionate alliance between the "Few" and the "Small," and save Freedom's "Finest Hour!"
